Does anyone know of a good book or study on the Falklands? specifically im interested in the naval/air perspective rather than the land. Try 'Air War over the Falklands' by Cdr 'Sharkey' Ward. He was i/c the harrier squadron onboard HMS Invincible during the conflict, and a harrier test pilot before that. Older members may remember a harrier landing in the back garden of the BBC daytime programme 'Pebble Mill at One' - that was him... Another good one is 'Exocet!' by Cdr Ian Inskip, navigator onboard HMS Glamorgan. I met him about ten years ago as he was submitting his manuscript to the MoD for security clearance before publishing the book. A thoroughly nice chap, who had a very interesting story to tell. Silent Hunter UK Posted November 14, 2010 Report Share Posted November 14, 2010 There's also One Hundred Days by Sir Sandy Woodward, the Rear Admiral in charge of the Task Force. It covers his career up to the war (including one memorable exercise where HMS Sheffield managed to get into Exocet range of a US carrier by pretending to be an Indian cruise ship) as well as the war itself.
