December 1, 200619 yr HarpoonPages invites you to vote for the 2006 Pooner and Lifetime Pooner. The big news is that this is the 10th Anniversary of the first Pooner vote (Tom Wenck won back in 1996 for his pfedit program). Thanks to yours truly, Don Gilman, Larry Bond, Chris Carlson, and Brad Leyte (Pooner 2005) the award this year includes adoration & thanks of the Harpoon community and more. The 2006 Pooner will receive a first edition hard cover copy of Red Storm Rising, in Very Good condition (if not fine but I'm no book dealer) signed not only by Tom Clancy, but Larry Bond as well! The 2006 Lifetime Pooner will receive a copy of Dangerous Ground signed by Larry Bond and Chris Carlson! To vote and view the past winners, visit http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php If you have any difficulties voting, please send an e-mail to pooner@harpoonpages.com with your name, e-mail address, and your vote for Pooner and Lifetime Pooner and I will enter them manually. Please post this message on any forum/list/newsgroup where Harpoon players reside so that we can bring in as many votes and cudos as possible to those who sustain Harpoon.
December 1, 200619 yr Author It has been mainly a Harpoon 3 kind of year, both of my choices for 2006 Pooner awards exert much of their effort (but not all) on the H3 side of the fence. For 2006 Pooner I chose Jan-Paul Köster. His support work, bug verification and ranking, and his work on the AGSI wiki bring him my vote. For Lifetime Pooner I chose Darrel Dearing. He has programmed the Harpoon games off and on for a very long time, efficiently, with skill, and with an ability to sideskirt the nasty public confrontations some of the rest of us just cannot always let pass. In my opinion he has supported the game in the spirit of a lifetime Pooner.
December 1, 200619 yr That time of the year already !? Uh oh, it always serves as a reminder that I'm waaay behind on my Christmas shopping.
December 3, 200619 yr Author Please come vote everyone, while it is only day 3 of voting there are only 9 votes so far vs a few hundred people who have viewed the voting threads and not voted
December 4, 200619 yr I have voted for Jan-Paul Koester for Pooner of the Year 2006 and for Darrel Dearing for Lifetime Pooner. For the same reasons that Tony has outlined above in his post. Good choices for all the right reasons.
December 4, 200619 yr I am not familiar enough with the names listed above or being considered outside of this thread, beyond Jan. Unfortuanately for Jan, I am not familiar enough with his work to vote with a clear conscience. Therefore, my vote is for sale...step right up.
December 16, 200619 yr Author Hehe Pete, for those of you with clear conscience and lazy fingers, the voting is halfway complete time-wise, head on over to http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php and vote. If you have any difficulties, contact me at pooner@harpoonpages.com and I'll help you get your vote entered. The dually signed copy of Red Storm Rising has returned (signed by both Clancy and Bond!!!). Pete, I'll try to push you towards Darrel Dearing on the lifetime vote. Look at every computer Harpoon version you have, chances are you'll find Darrel's name in there somewhere For the 2006 Pooner there are so many choices, is it David Heath from Matrix for helping keep the dream alive, Jan-Paul for verifying, testing, tolerating, Frans just because he will feel really bad if he doesn't get a few votes, Herman for bringing so many new players into the fold, ... As an administrative note, there are currently three partial votes entered, I'll be attempting to contact those voters tomorrow (the initial verification happened but the voters have not returned to actually place the vote). Thank you for voting!
December 28, 200619 yr Author Three days of voting left, this is your last call to vote. Head over to http://www.harpoonpages.com/poonervote/pooner-Intro.php, vote, then talk up your choices back here. Thanks for voting!
