Question about my favorite "classic" scenario
Yes I'm using a Win98se virtual machine (VMware Player) and the editor will load but immediately craps out with a 'Stack Overflow Error'. Maybe it's just a VMware thing. I'll give the Microsoft VirtualPC a shot. Also using Win7 Ultimate x64...

H3 ANW Launcher 2.5 question
Where did you guys get 1.6.1? The latest I could find was 1.5.5. I guess that'll be the last version

Question about my favorite "classic" scenario
What's the best workaround to the scen editor being a 16bit app? I've converted over to x64 on all my machines, and although I have a VMWare Win98se image just for such occasions, I get a "stack overflow error" when I try to launch the editor from within the virtual machine (which can run the game itself just fine). Argggghhhh.... A very good reason to play Red.

Ipad2 version
I'm convinced that the market is headed towards these devices (I love mine, and I'm an old time PC guy), and all manner of 2D war-games would go extremely well with a touch based interface. The little thing is just so damn slick and the battery lasts forever. Anyway, I wish I knew how to program, because I would definitely focus my efforts toward this new growth area. There's not even one serious war-game on the app store and - like I said - the device is tailor made for that sort of thing (much better suited than, for instance, the plethora of first person shooters that are available for iPad 2).

Just one wish
Real simple. I've got all x64 machines, so you know what it's gonna be: x32 scenario editor!!!! (yes I know it's on the big list, but Good Grief this is kinda huge. Who runs a 32 bit OS anymore?)

Question about my favorite "classic" scenario
Yeah the scenario is still great from the 'Blue Side', but I usually take 'Red' Hey, my wife is from Minsk and her dad was an officer on a sub. Gotta try to get along with the family, ya know [emphasis mine] I guess whether its a 'problem' depends on your point of view. Some of us crave a tough scenario! Off the top of my head, the scenario has not been rebuilt for HCE.

Question about my favorite "classic" scenario
Hey, I was just about to dive in and revise this old classic when I found myself wondering if anyone through the years had already done so. The problem with this scenario (as reiterated by the AAR I ran across in my search) is that, with the new sonar modeling, subs are much harder to detect. That, plus those 54nm-range wake homing torps, makes it nearly impossible for the CVBG to escape US territorial waters without losing the majority of its ships (including the CVN). Anyway, once I'm done I'll be sure to post it up here. My goal is to go back and revise all the original Cold War Gone Hot scenarios from the GIUK and NACV battlesets. I have really fond memories of those, playing on my Amiga in 89-92 or so. Man, that little computer could just barely handle Harpoon, and you were pretty much limited to 10 second time compression. Anything higher, and it took just as long - but with fewer updates!

RIP Darren Buckley (aka HUD3)
I was just stunned and saddened to hear this. I hope his family knows just how many of us out here knew and appreciated him. He was so very helpful to me when I re-entered the Harpoon world after a decade-long hiatus. I remember several long emails back and forth as he patiently explained things to me, and he even gave me an advance preview of his next database, along with several of my favorite scenarios. What a great guy. I hope his example can inspire all of us who are passionate about Naval/Air warfare. I think he would want us to keep that flame burning very brightly.

* Known Harpoon [ANW] Issues
Dear God... I'm kicking myself for being busy with school while 3.6 came and went...and now is gone forever.
