I apologize if this is a really stupid question, but is this updated version of the HUD3 available yet? If so, where is it? Thanks. Mark There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers... So here's my contribution. No, there isn't an updated version of the HUD3 available. I made this notation, "- Now Added to HUD3" so you knew what I've added from your list and the other notations were designed to help you find the platforms you were looking for. I have a project that should have taken total precedence over anything like adding extra platforms to the HUD3, since the next release/update for ANW was/is relying on that work. I'll try to get everything done ASAP. Darren

Thanks François, I've made the correction. Cheers Darren

Mark, Here's an update, My comments in Blue.

Tony, Apologies for not adding the link to your version. I saw the person posting it and decided against it. Cheers Darren

Mark, I've just added the T-47 classes for the French, so you may have to revise the scenario at some point in the near future with more suitable platforms. In fact since you raised the issue of older French vessels, I've found the Official Harpoon 4.1 Data Annex has a completely flawed T-47 Tartar entry and will be forwarding the corrections to Larry Bond shortly. Cheers Darren

Buddha, Without digging up what I hope remains ancient history. Jan-Paul had a close association with the folks at HHQ, and they have well founded issues with the Editor of the PDB. I also have issues with that individual and his methods of operation. Brad Leyte (CV32), co-owner of Harpgamer has made this forum's attitude clear for everyone to understand, regarding the attitude to the PDB here: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?s...ost&p=28865 Jan-Paul Köster has passed the rights to the BattlesetCreator to me, with the only condition being the PDB restriction. I am simply respecting his wishes. Cheers Darren

Mark, I've removed the quotes and made notes where applicable below. Australia ANZAC frigate <-- I must have missed this somehow, but I cannot find it in the HUD3 - Already explained above. Armidale class patrol boat - Ship #564 ACPB 83 HMAS Armidale. In service from 2006. That's over 200 vessels before the last entry I've made. Huon class minehunter - Not a priority, we don't model mine warfare, what's the point? Boeing 737 AEW&C - Aircraft #340 E-737-700 Wedgetail. In service from 2006. It dates from almost 300 aircraft from the current latest entry. Cheers Darren

Buddha, I've received permission and Jan-Paul Köster has granted me the rights to distribute the program with one condition. It is not to be used in the construction of Battlesets using the PDB. I ask everyone to abide by this condition since Jan-Paul was gracious enough to allow for its distribution. The file is available in the Downloads section of Harpgamer. Cheers Darren

File Name: BattlesetCreator.zip File Submitter: HUD3 File Submitted: 30 May 2011 File Category: Tools/Docs Authors: Jan-Paul Köster/Darren Buckley This file contains the Harpoon 2/Harpoon 3 ANW BattlesetCreator.exe program, used to create new Battlesets for use in the game. There is also a usage rights statement and short "how to use" description of instructions included in the file. Cheers Darren Click here to download this file

Buddha, You're not missing anything from your installation. The file is a third party created program designed to allow for the creation of Harpoon 2 and 3 Battlesets. I believe it was designed by Jan-Paul Koster, who also designed the H3 ANW Launcher. I would have received the file somewhere around 5 or more years ago. I'll contact Jan-Paul and once I receive permission I'll make it available for everyone. Since Ralf and myself have it, I didn't realise other's may not and with the recent increased ANW activity here and Ralf and I running into this issue I just wanted to make people aware of this. Cheers Darren

Greetings All, I just wanted to make everyone aware of an issue that may arise when creating new Battlesets for ANW. The Battleset name field is restricted to 25 character spaces. Exceeding this limit will cause both a corrupted display in the Scenario editor and a crash/freeze when attempting to make use of the editor's Batch Rebuild feature. I've attached a screenshot that, displays the Battleset name field in the BattlesetCreator.exe notated to illustrate the issue. Letters, numbers, symbols and spaces all count toward the 25 character limit. Please beware of this issue as Both Ralf and I have gone through enough hair pulling and gnashing of teeth for everybody. Cheers Darren

Don, They signify a jamming and a jammed unit. Section 17.2 of the HUE advanced Manual: "If a ship or aircraft is equipped with ECM equipment, it can be used to degrade enemy sensors. Select Active from the Sensor dialog box to activate the ECM. Remember that in many cases, using ECM will degrade your side’s sensors as well. When a unit or group is being jammed, a small “X” will appear in the upper-right side of the unit or group symbol. If a unit or group on another side is using jammers, a small “Q” will appear in the upper-right side of the symbol for the unit or group using the jammer." Cheers Darren

Well said Tony, anyone would think we're a mega-corporation who could afford to insure themselves against this kind of thing. Mr LOL... doing what you have can break a company like AGSI. There's a demo available LOL, try it out if you like it, purchase the game and help keep it alive, rather than try to kill it off... Darren

Don, I've attached a screen shot displaying the Unit Report window. There are 4 sensors listed and three of them have been detected as active. Note the * appearing before sensors 1 -> 3, while sensor 4 has been detected but due to range is no longer capable of being classified as active, it is but the ESM system isn't receiving enough energy to mark it as active. Cheers Darren

Thanks Gunny, Quick clarification: Australia: ANZAC Class Ship #439 - F 150 HMAS Anzac [Meko 200] 1996 -> 2006 Ship #539 - F 150 HMAS Anzac [Meko 200 WIP] 2004+ (WIP - War-fighting Improvement Program) Saudi Arabia Tornado F.2A = ADV (Air Defence Variant) 1989+ Tornado GR.1A = IDS (Interdiction Strike) 1986+ Mark: All units are found in the relevant country file. If something doesn't show up, chances are the scenario date lays outside of the unit's in service date(s). Cheers Darren

Mark, I've just fixed the Etendard IVM, it was missing the carrier capable flag, hence it wouldn't show in the add aircraft list. The DH. 112 Sea Venom FAW.53 is the Australian version. There's no British or French version in the Database, hence the French carrier doesn't ship the weapons required... The Aquilon as the Sea Venom FAW.20 was known, was in service from 1954 - 65. The F-8E (FN) Crusader entered service in October 1964... Many of these early platforms are actually almost outside the scope of the HUD3 and were planned to be added to an earlier HUD based DB covering the period from the 1960s through to 1975. I've not commenced work on that project, in fact I've already commenced on the HUD3 - CaS (Command at Sea) representing the period from 1925 to 1960. The proposed "plan" for DB development would look something like this: HUD - FGDN (Fear God and Dread Nought) 1901 -> 1925 HUD - CaS (Command at Sea) 1925 -> 1960 HUD - EME (Early Missile Era) 1960 -> 1975 HUD3 - 1975+ Unfortunately I don't have access to a cloning machine so everyone will have to be patient. Cheers Darren

Mark, The Super Frelon is a "Large" aircraft and in fact the largest aircraft the Clemenceau class ever shipped. They were only carried between 1992 and 1997. There is a slight issue with the carrier in the database if you want to use them. The single unit you can add is due to the runway type. So yes, you can only carry one at present. CLEMENCEAU AIR GROUPS: • 1961: 2 flights Etendard IVM, 1 flight Alize, 1 flight Aquilon (UK Sea Venom) and US SAR/ASW helo (HSS-1, HUP-2) • 1978: Air group 8 F-8E(FN) Crusader, 15 Super Etendard, 8 Alizé, 2 SA.365F Panther, 4 SA.365F Panther. • 1992: 7 F-8E(FN), 20 Super Etendard, 6 Alize, 4 Etendard IVP, 4 Lynx or 4 Super Frelon • 1997: 6 F-8P, 20 Super Etendard, 6 Alize, 2 Panther, 4 Etendard IVP • 1999: Foch air wing for Balkans conflict: 16 Super Etendard Modernise, 4 Etendard IVP, 3 Super Frelon SAR helos. Foch was retired in 2000. So for only 6 of a 39 year service record, the Super Frelon made an appearance... Therefore it wasn't a "must have" when I originally updated the carrier. I'll attempt to work through the air capacity figures and add the capability, although I'm snowed under with a scenario project for AGSI and the associated DB edits required. Air capacities are a nightmare to work with so 4 x Lynx might be a better option for now. Further queries: What older oilers? The Official Harpoon 4.1 Annex only carries the Durance which entered service in 1976. If you're going up against Syria I doubt you'd need oilers anyway. I mean if the French vessels can't cover the Mediterranean without support, if was probably best the French decided to stand out of NATO... I've checked the Command at Sea annexes, and there's nothing but a submarine support ship listed. So the official data covering from, 1925 until today only lists the Durance class for French replenishment vessels... I'll need stats, names or something to go on if you want the "older oilers" added. I don't like adding vessels I have to "invent", the project I previously mentioned is requiring me to break my own rules and I'm really not happy about that. As an interim I've added the refuel flags to the Clemenceau class so they can refuel their escorting destroyers... Which other older French vessels do you want added? Darren

A point to make here is that, since sensor/ECM/EW pods aren't expended (unless lost with an aircraft that gets shot down) you don't have to provide the exact quantity of pods as weapons available. However doing so will allow for the correct display of available loadouts. EXAMPLE: Loadout SEAD #xyz AGM-88 - HARM Blk. I, II (2/2) AIM-120A/B AMRAAM '91+ (2/2) AIM-9M - Sidewinder (2/2) 600 USG Drop Tank - (F-15E) (2/2) AN/ASQ-213 Harm Targeting Pod (1/1) MAGAZINE AGM-88 - HARM Blk. I, II (120/2400) AN/ASQ-213 Harm Targeting Pod (24/96) When loading an aircraft only 24 x Loadout SEAD #xyz will appear as available based on the number of AN/ASQ-213 Harm Targeting Pods available. In reality there are actually 60 loadouts available based on the number of available AGM-88 - HARM Blk. I, II. Cheers Darren

In real life that's called a, "double agent"...
