  1. Just an update Italian Defence Ministry announced Italy made 8 planes available for the coalition, 4 SEAD Tornadoes and 4 fighters (not specified, but maybe F-16). Francesco

Ctrl Alt S will reveal all units in the scenario, your side and theirs. If you're not seeing that, let us know what version of the GE you're using, battleset and scenario, etc. Ooops... I was hitting Ctrl+Shift+S, now I see it, thanks! A real God's eye indeed ;-) Francesco

Hi all, I was reading a post and I got aware there is such an option in the game. Searched in the download area, found the hot keys documents and I see there's a Ctrl+Alt+S key combination. I tried it but nothing happens: what am I supposed to see activating it into the game? Thanks Francesco
  4. Absolutely. Slow moving and hovering helicopters are notoriously difficult radar targets. (The bane of the ill fated Sgt York DIVADS comes to mind). That's what I was thinking - it seems to me that it would be almost impossible to counteract slow and low flying helos, especially those taking off close to the target and flying just a few minutes. If ever this option would be undertaken. Francesco
  5. Hi, a technical question to more expert forum members than me, about the possibility of a Libyan no-fly zone. Is it possible for a AWACS plane to be aware of and to track even very low flying little planes, or helicopters? If not, I suppose Gheddafi could continue to target rebels taking off from airstrips or cities and NATO/UE forces would be impotent. Any opinion? Francesco

I've just had a look at that wish list, a real impressive quantity of things to do - I thought HCE was almost perfect before I saw it :-) Just completing half of them would made HCE the best strategic/tactic "game" around! Thanks Francesco

Thanks for the prompt answer, interesting issue. I suppose you can obtain this escort jamming adding a jammer plane to your strike mission group. And how could I identify a jammer plane (or a plane with a suitable equipment) and its jamming range? Planes that come to my mind are Prowlers, any other? About Gopher proposal, I would like it very much...we all know there's a lot of work behind a button, just hope you Tony will have a lot of spare time in the future :-) Francesco

Hi everybody, I'm an old Harpoon fan (I must have one of the first CD versions in Italy, I guess) and just a while ago I purchased HCE, willing to refresh my strategic competences :-) Now that I have some time to play again, I would like some enlightenment about the program and its new logic: 1) which is the best fuel efficency altitude for each plane? Is it still the default altitude it starts flying at when is launched? Is there a standard rule about it? 2) what does that "little lightning" symbol sometimes appearing on some of the planes means? 3) why the old air-to-ground attack "launch all and run home" logic is not working anymore? I see the logic is now "launch and stay loitering", that seems to me very dangerous, and force me to manually control the attack phase (I appreciated the loitering logic when air-to-air attacks are completed instead). Thanks for your patience Francesco
  9. Yes, by and large, all GE changes (improvements or otherwise) translate into the older battlesets. Keep in mind, though, that some changes were intended to be reflected in the database and the inability to edit the old database keeps some of them from being fully or properly incorporated. For example, the Tu-16 Badger J electronic jamming aircraft in some of the older battlesets lacks a jammer. Got it. Thank you. Francesco
  10. > Keep in mind that the Game Engine (GE) code is the same regardless of battleset used. Hi, I have a maybe stupid question about this issue - do all HCE engine improvements (AI, etc.) are working in the older battlesets? Or are they available for the new ones only? Francesco
  11. Thank you very much going to have a look Francesco
  12. Thanks And should I simply overwrite the old commondb.res and put the .db into the main folder? Francesco
  13. Thank you very much, Tony, it worked fine. I was entering the HC2002 s/n, not the HCGOLD one. Phew! Now, I imagine we have had a lot of database (and game engine maybe?) updates in this while - would you please point me to the must-have files? And is there a help guide to penetrate the DB update secrets ;-) ? Francesco
  14. Hi everybody, I'm trying to reinstall my old HC on my new PC, but I don't seem to remember well the steps to have the whole thing working. I installed it by the hcgold_full.exe installer, but now I cannot use the EC2003 default battleset, since I receive the message the the game can only be played by the registered COMMONDB version. I have my serial number and the key Bruce sent me in the old days, but the registration seems ininfluent for the game. I can actually play the other default Battleset. Can someone help me with some advice? My HC version is the 2003.15, Dec 19, 2003 (release) Thank you Francesco Cozzi
