  1. Any progress on these? I've got a couple of scenario ideas I'd like to use some of them in. Thanks!
  2. Here's another one...I think I've mentioned this but I'm not sure... The database lists the Skymaster as the Cessna 223 Skymaster, but as far as I can tell no such model appears to exist. I think it was supposed to be the Cessna 337 Skymaster. I'm not sure if there is anything special involved in just re-naming a database entry, as opposed to changing it; as far as I can tell, correcting the name of the platform is the only thing that has to be done.
  3. A quick addition... The Flight II version of the hypothetical frigate class FF 1099 Craven shows the text for one of the maritime pre-positioning ship classes. The text for the other versions of the ship can be used.
  4. A few minor issues that should be fixed when possible... BCVN North Carolina (both versions) <-- the text appearing is for another hypothetical class, the BCGN Alaska. I don't know if an actual description for this fictional class is available, so it may have to be changed to "Descriptive text is not available." DDGH Kimmel Flight III <-- For some reason, the text for the 550 Cavour appears. This can be changed to the text for the Flight II Kimmel: "Fictional platform. Improved version of the Kimmel destroyer class." F 100 Grenade [Type 25] [#] <-- the text appearing is for the 365 KRI Diponegoro; it appears to be a fictional European frigate class, possibly British, but I'm not sure, so perhaps just use "Descriptive text is not available." My 28th scenario of 2013... In the near future, tensions have increased between the Netherlands and Venezuela. The Netherlands sends a small task force to Aruba to "show the flag," and hopefully discourage Venezuela from any aggression, and to gather intelligence. But things may not go as smoothly as planned... (This is another scenario that I think shows how good Harpoon ANW and the HUD-4 are at modeling small battles where both sides only have a dozen or so units. It is not too hard to win, but you have to pay attention to what is going on because it is easy for trouble to sneak up on you.) 6. Just a few more ideas (again, designed so they can be done simply, using existing platforms but adding new names so Victory Conditions can be set more easily)... STRC - Desalination Plant Use: STRC - Factory Description: A facility for converting seawater into fresh water. STRC - Dam Use: STRC - Factory Description: A large dam used to create a reservoir.

  8. Another building suggestion, again with the existing database "equivalent" suggested. BLDG - Water Tower Use: BLDG - Small Description: A water storage facility. ANW HUD-4 v1.2

Hawker 800 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_800 "The Hawker 800 is a mid-size twin-engine corporate aircraft. It is a development of the British Aerospace BAe 125, and is currently assembled by Hawker Beechcraft....A military version of the Hawker 800 is in use by South Korea for tactical reconnaissance, surveillance and SIGINT (SIGnals INTelligence) tasks, and 8 specially-equipped aircraft were delivered in 2000. The Republic of Korea Air Force calls them RC-800s, and they are based at Seongnam...Japan uses a maritime search and rescue variant of the Hawker 800. It is designated U-125A in Japan Air Self-Defense Force service. This variant has large observation windows, a flare and marker-buoy dispenser system, life-raft and emergency equipment dropping system and enhanced salt water corrosion prevention. The aircraft also has a Toshiba 360-degree search radar, melco thermal imaging equipment and other military communications equipment for its mission" --Wikipedia More than 600 built. Used by various corporations, but also, as mentioned above, by various air forces, sometimes in recon or SIGINT roles. Not sure if the different variants need their own database entries or not. 10. Lockheed T-33 and/or AT-33 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-33 "The Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star (or T-Bird) is an American jet trainer aircraft. It was produced by Lockheed and made its first flight in 1948 piloted by Tony LeVier. The T-33 was developed from the Lockheed P-80/F-80 starting as TP-80C/TF-80C in development, then designated T-33A. It was used by the U.S. Navy initially as TO-2 then TV-2, and after 1962, T-33B. Despite its age, the T-33 remains in service worldwide." --Wikipedia The F-80 is already in the database, but I was not sure if the AT-33 should be added or not. Is it different enough to need its own entry? It sounds like it might be. And the AT-33 is, believe it or not, STILL in use in the Bolivian air force! (I'm assuming the ones built in Canada are not different enough to need their own entry.) ANW HUD-4 v1.2

My 27th scenario of 2013... In the near future, France must help its ally Gabon in a conflict against Angola. 14. Embraer E-Jet family http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_E-Jet_family "The Embraer E-Jet family is a series of narrow-body medium-range twin-engine jet airliners produced by Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer. Announced at the Paris Air Show in 1999, and entering production in 2002, the aircraft series has been a commercial success.[3] The aircraft is used by both mainline and regional airlines around the world. As of 31 December 2012, there is a backlog of 185 firm orders for the E-Jets, 580 options and 908 units delivered" --Wikipedia Another very common airliner (actually, it looks like there are about three or four versions, but I'm not sure if they each need a separate entry), especially in Latin America, with some being used by air forces. 15. A bit more information... Does the Beechcraft 1900 need its own listing? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_1900 It certainly looks a bit different than the King Air, and nearly 700 were made, and it was used by various air forces, so it could show up as a light transport, etc.

Here is some more information on this platform... http://www.airliners.net/aircraft-data/stats.main?id=23 http://www.airliners.net/aircraft-data/stats.main?id=22 http://www.airliners.net/aircraft-data/stats.main?id=24 (Not sure if separate platforms should be added for all the variants or just use the 320, as it is the most common version.) Also, while it is not as common a military transport as other aircraft, it is used by some air forces, including France, Turkey, and Venezuela.
  17. Generic Drone Database text: A generic surveillance drone equipped with a TV camera and IR night vision. Basically, this is a remote control version of the Chotia Weedhopper, equipped with a camera with zoom (marine binoculars), IR night vision (night vision goggles), and MAYBE a laser designator for painting a target for other aircraft, etc. It is meant to simulate the dozens of drone models built by countries around the world. It can also simulate any future or homebrew drone models such as those that might be purchased or built by terrorists, criminal syndicates, spy agencies, countries torn apart by civil wars, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chotia_Weedhopper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chotia_Gypsy http://www.ulav8r.com/PDF%20files/Weedhopper%20B%20Flyer.pdf http://www.all-aero.com/index.php/component/content/article/56-planes-v-w/11768-weedhopper-of-utah-jc-24-weedhopper The exact range seems to vary by model (from 50 to 120 miles), so it might be best to just use the average, which seems to be about 75 miles. It can take off from a very short runway, or a grass field, so I'm assuming it can take off from any STOL airfield--even a 3,000-foot dirt/jungle runway is much more than it needs. I am assuming that this version IS carrier capable and designed to take off from or land on any vessel large enough to launch STOL aircraft. (The U.S. has a couple of small drones like this, in fact.) ANW HUD-4 v1.2
  18. Chotia Weedhopper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chotia_Weedhopper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chotia_Gypsy http://www.ulav8r.com/PDF%20files/Weedhopper%20B%20Flyer.pdf http://www.all-aero.com/index.php/component/content/article/56-planes-v-w/11768-weedhopper-of-utah-jc-24-weedhopper "The Weedhopper ultralight is an American high-wing, tractor configuration, tricycle gear, two-axis control ultralight aircraft originally developed by John Chotia during the height of the 1970s ultralight boom and introduced in 1977. The aircraft is available as a kit for amateur construction and can be assembled in 25-30 man-hours" --Wikipedia The exact range seems to vary by model (from 50 to 120 miles), so it might be best to just use the average, which seems to be about 75 miles. The most common ultralight in the world, with more than 13,000 built. It could easily show up in a scenario being used by terrorists/insurgents/spies/etc. trying to gather intelligence or escape from a hot zone, etc. It's also easy to hide because you can take it apart and put it in a trailer, storage unit, etc. and then reassemble it. Equally likely is that some idiot and/or journalist will fly into a war zone, possibly by accident, and add to the general "noise" the combatants are trying to deal with. It can take off from a very short runway, or a grass field, so I'm assuming it can take off from any STOL airfield--even a 3,000-foot runway is much more than it needs. It could probably even take off from a carrier or an amphibious assault ship, although they might need some kind of netting to catch it when it tries to land again since it does not have an arrestor hook. SOCATA TBM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socata_TBM http://www.airliners.net/aircraft-data/stats.main?id=370 "The SOCATA TBM 700 and TBM 850 are high performance single engine turboprop light business and utility aircraft manufactured by SOCATA. 20. A little more information...it has been named the Izumo-class helicopter destroyer... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Izumo-class_helicopter_destroyer "The Izumo-class helicopter destroyer (いずも型護衛艦 Izumo-gata-goei-kan?) or 22DDH is a type of new helicopter carrier class being constructed for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The ships of this class will be the largest surface combatants of the JMSDF, taking over the mantle currently held by the Hyūga-class helicopter destroyers. The lead ship was officially unveiled at Yokohama on 6 August 2013" --Wikipedia "The ship will be able to carry up to 14 helicopters,[3] however only 7 ASW helicopters and 2 SAR helicopters are planned for the initial aircraft complement. For other operations, 400 troops and 50 3.5t trucks (or equivalent equipment) can also be carried. The flight deck has 5 helicopter landing spots that allow simultaneous landings or take-offs. The ship is equipped with 2 Phalanx CIWS and 2 SeaRAM for its defense.[1] The destroyers of this class were initially intended to replace the two ships of the Shirane class, which were originally scheduled to begin decommissioning in FY2014" --Wikipedia "Forecast International has reported that some of the design changes with respect to the previous class are intended to support the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey and Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II aircraft,[5] although neither the MOD or the JMSDF have ever mentioned the possibility of introducing fixed-wing aircraft." --Wikipedia ANW HUD-4 v1.2
  21. Embraer ERJ 145 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_ERJ_145_family "The Embraer ERJ 145 family is a series of regional jets produced by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company. Family members include the ERJ 135 (37 passengers), ERJ 140 (44 passengers), and ERJ 145 (50 passengers), as well as the Legacy business jet and the R-99 family of military aircraft. The ERJ 145 is the largest of the group. Each jet in the series is powered by two turbofan engines. The family's primary competition comes from the Bombardier CRJ regional jets." --Wikipedia The AEW version of this aircraft is already in the database; this is the transport version, which is used by several air forces, particularly in the VIP transport role, making it useful as a target/Victory Condition aircraft. Nearly 1,000 of these have been built and are in use by civil airlines and air forces. There is also a P-99 version, used by the Mexican air force, that is similar to the AEW version, but which does not have all the sensors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_R-99 ANW HUD-4 v1.2
  22. Bombardier Challenger 600 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Challenger_600 "The Bombardier Challenger 600 series is a family of business jets. It was first produced by Canadair as an independent company and then produced from 1986 by Canadair as a division of Bombardier Aerospace." --Wikipedia More than 100 built, and used by several air forces, and the USCG.
