  1. Im having problems again with weapons not shooting within their range. Target has been identified and an enemy yet the staff message pops up sayinig tatget is out of range. Tony E, not a dire need so don't get yourself fired from work answering my silly question. Harpoon ANW V 3.10 DB is HUD 3. Thanks again, Steve OK. Weapons seemed to fire after pulling back from the target. Inside minimum range perhaps. Also EA 18 Growlers firing HARM 88 weren't given option of which RADAR to shoot on enemy vessel.
  2. Thanks Tony. Hey if your just siting around answering forum questions, sit tight. Im sure Ill throw another problem here sometime today.
  3. After designing my own scenerio with an Ohio class sub and starting the game (ANW V 3.10 HUD 3 DB) my sub turns blue and disappears. Some missiles after being fired also turn blue and vanish. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
  4. Says the Argentine military command when their airbases get levelled by Tomahawks. It doesn't really seem that the US wants to send a carrier battle group their. What would we gain for our efforts? Just let it and the oil go, lick your wounds and move on. Could you really say that this would be a loss for the UK? We got our clocks rung in Mogidishu, we shed some tears for our losses and we got on with life. I think the UK is more embarrassed by being schooled by what they thought was an inferior military. Argentinas 2011 military budget is 4 billion dollars compared to the UK's 57 billion. Thats Pee Wee Herman slappin Mike Tyson around. I don't think its got anything to do with being embarrassed by an inferior military its about ensuring sovereignty of a British territory, you let the Falklands go without and fight and you've got Gibraltar looking nervously at Spain..... OK so I was in a bit of a rush and attempting to comment on two replies rather than concentrating on just one so here is the new and improved reply. I first off should have asked of the significance of the Falklands to the UK other than sovereignty? I've read that oil may be the reason why Britain is holding onto such a distant territory but I've never read of any estimates. I'd understand if this was Diego Garcia since it has such a significant military value to the UK. It just seemed like a high price to pay; several ships and planes lost and several hundred British soldiers and sailors. All for a group of far away islands that I don't see adding a lot to the UK economy. In a Discovery Channel program about the Falklands War, UK military leaders seemed surprised on how close Argentina came to winning the war which I interpet as "embarrased". Sorry to see that Britain and Argentina are still having issues with it. I don't know about a Spain/Gibralter issue but that seems less likely as Spain appears slightly more civil and the proximity to the UK would make it much easier to defend.

  6. In real life that's called a, "double agent"... I have soooo forgot about this. When I get back home Ill post the scenerio or look into the postures. Thanks folks.
  7. I was using 3.9.4.0 with HUD 3 1.3.21 DB. I'll contact Matrix. Thanks for your help. To save me some time are their any major differneces between 3.6, 3.9 and 3.10? Thanks, Steve
  8. After designing a scenerio and closing the editor, I'll open the game and open the scenerio that I just created. All of the enemy ships will appear on the screen. This seems to happen after being in the scenerio editor and displaying both sides at once. What gives? Thanks, Steve
  9. Steven, Does the weapon look like this: AGM-154A - JSOW(HE Clust.)? Remove the Bearing Only Launch flag from the weapon like I just have and it might just work... ;-) Cheers Darren PS: If you keep this up I'll have to add you to the HUD3 credits. Feel like joining the team? If I had time I'd be here but my choosen profession doesn't quite allow for it (truck driver). So I put in my 8-10 hrs of playing in every month and my remaining time goes to the wife and kids. Thanks Darren for your help.
  10. I am just struggling here. I have a B2B with a loadout of AGM 154A and I cannot shoot any land target with the weapons range. The attack dialog screen comes up allowing to select the weapon and target yet the weapon will not fire. What gives? Thanks, Steve
  11. OK really having issues. Going to have to start over. I need help opening up the DB (HUD3), changing a few of the platforms and then exporting it. I thought I was doing the same thing as in HCE but I keeping getting errors so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. In trying to modify the HUD3 database (yes I am messing with perfection). I seem to be importing or exporting the DB incorrectly. After exporting I get an error saying that the dbsignature.dll file is missing. I don't even see a file with that name. I import the DB from the DB folder in Harpoon 3.9.4, mess with the db in the editor and then export it back to where I got it. Is that the correct process? Thanks, Steve

Harpoon 3.9.4 scenerio editor using the HUD 3 DB. While adding a quantity of 8 B1B to an airbase and assigninging a loadout to that aircraft, the loadout screen states that a quantity of 5 of SO#143 is available yet all 8 of the bombers can be loaded. Am I missing something? Thanks, Steve

More detail would be appreciated, zip a saved game and attach it here with instructions would really help everyone else 'see what you see'. Last week I was working with HUD3 and had exact detections of a frigate using my CG-47 class cruiser's radar. Thank you OK. Im guessing that the radar just hasnt fully ID the contact. The game is working so maybe I should ask for a primer on RADAR basics. An enemy unit was finally ID and then all hell broke loose. In HCE an AWACS or Hawkeye would have the ship located and ID much sooner so can I assume that Harpoon 3 could be modeled more realistically? Thanks Tony. All you folks here as well as the Harpoon folks put out one hell of a product. You should look for a cure for cancer. Tony or all those interrested...Here is my saved game. I have Growlers and Hawkeyes all in the air and they don't seem to be ID the contacts 100% Friendlies have active sensors and I shift them back and forth to no IMMEDIATE avail. It seems to take time for the sensors to get them but eventually they will. So again a Ops primer for this old hole snipe would be appreciated. And I sent the .SAV file so I wasnt sure if that was correct so let me know. Thanks.

While playing Harpoon 3 w/ HUD3 DB enemy units dont seem to be having any radar returns and only a "ghost image" regardless of ship or aircraft thus an exact location is not known. Any suggestions?
  18. I had thought that one of the options with Harpoon 3/ANW was the ability to join a surface ship such as an LSD with land units such as tanks or a batallion of Marines. Is this possile if so how do you set it up in the scenerio editor? Thanks, Steve
  19. I was hoping that Harpoon Ultimate would have changed JDAMS from missiles to bombs since its not really a missile. Is their a reason for this?
  20. OK, I've think I've got this figured out. When you have a helo or fixed wing aircraft with an ASW loadout, set a course, set the speed to cruise then set the speed again to loiter. Set another course, set speed to cruise then set speed to loiter again. When the helo/aircraft stops to loiter the sonobuoy will automatically drop. If the aircraft doesn't start moving then set the speed to cruise to get it moving then every time it reaches the end of each leg to loiter, a sonobuoy will drop as indicated by the small box in the unit screen. This sounds complicated but if anyone wants me to explain it in more detail, I will. Thank you Steve
  21. I'm not at my computer w/ HCE on it so bear with me. If you go into the Orders menu and set the path and speed for a helo w/ an ASW loadout (with sonobuoys) you can input several legs for that unit. If you do it correctly, i.e. set the altitude to vlow and enter a leg, set the speed to cruise, make another leg and set that new leg speed to 0 a sonobuoy WILL drop automatically as indicated by a small square. Each time the helo reaches the end of the leg and goes to 0, another buoy will drop and then it will resume speed on the next leg. Thanks again for those of you helping. Steve
  22. I've done it once before but can't remember how to make a helo with a ASW loadout automatically deploy its sonar bouy's. Their is some type of alt/speed/hdg pattern that you use when inputing the helo's path. Can anyone help? Thanks, Steve
