I DL'd the Ambition Scenario to try it out. As soon as I've read the Orders page and attempt to play, the game crashes.

Actually, this thread should probably be locked since the CTD has now been resolved. I'll have a working scenario to post in a few days.

Yeah, that's the version I have. All else seems normal, but with this particular scenario, I can't get past the error in the attached screenshot. It pops up right after the Orders screen.

Thanks guys, sorry Akula, your scen has provided accessible test fodder for a potential workaround for the groups with no units crashing the GE but the fix was unique to my machine. So I'll take out the fix and the rule remains, don't have empty groups

 

I'll move the thread in a couple days.
