- Chg:0000 GE In debug builds, show when the GE expires.

- Chg:0000 GE Split sounds out of Harpoon32.dll and into individual files

within the Sounds directory.

- Chg:0000 GE Allow high PicIDs for commondb battlesets.

- Chg:0000 GE Ignore BattleSetPath from registry, make it the same directory

as the one the game was launched from.

- Chg:0000 SE Allow high PicIDs for commondb battlesets.

- Chg:0000 SE Ignore BattleSetPath from registry, make it the same directory

as the one the game was launched from.

- Chg:0000 BS EC2003 IOPG Scenario 5.0 victory conditions fixed, AOE ship

type changed to MPS. (thanks Maromak)

HCE - 2008.025

==============

- Chg:2415 GE Started to kludge a workaround for situations where planes are

within the minimum range of one weapon but outside minimum

range of the next, resulting in a request to attack with

cannon fire. This kludge only affects AAM engagements!

(thanks Herman)

Pretty obviously some things to test there gents. Note also that BattlesetPath is now ignored from the registry and is assumed to be the directory from which you launched the GE or SE. This means you can now do lots of HC installations and not worry about the BattlesetPath (in this version and in the future).

These are the ones I knew how to go about comfirming. I'm not very good at poking around inside the registry.

Here's what's left to test for this release...

How to test the BattleSetPath thing:

  • Load up an earlier version of HCE
  • At the Battleset selector screen, click the Battlesets button, make sure it is pointed somewhere other than your beta install (i.e. you 2008.024 or 2007.000 install would be good places to point).
  • Load a scenario
  • Close the game
  • Start your HCE beta build
  • At the Battleset selector screen, click the Battlesets button, if the change I made worked right you'll see the directory of your beta build instead of your previous version directory, that verifies the change works as desired.
  • Repeat the entire procedure for the SE, it saves the registry entry to a different spot so you have to do the same old version then new version cycle as with the GE.

How to test high PicIDs:

  • Import HCDB into the Platform Editor (the key is the almost 20MB commondb.rsr file, not the DB itself)(so if you are Rene, use EuroDB...)
  • Look in your commondb\rsr\ directory, you see a bunch of res####.bmp files.
  • Make lots of copies of one of the photos, increment the name by one each time (res0688.bmp, res0689.bmp,...,res0922.bmp)
  • res0922.bmp is as far as you need go, that test both GE and SE limits
  • In the PE assign a platform the PicID 768 (equivalent to res0922.bmp)
  • Export the database
  • Open the SE, find that platform in the SE, if the SE doesn't crash then life is good and the bug is fixed. It should also show the photo!
  • Open the GE, find that platform in the GE, if the GE doesn't crash then life is good and the bug is fixed. It should also show the photo!

- Chg:0000 GE Ignore BattleSetPath from registry, make it the same directory as the one the game was launched from.

I tested this as per your instructions and it worked as expected.

- Chg:0000 SE Ignore BattleSetPath from registry, make it the same directory as the one the game was launched from.

I tested this as per your instructions and it did not work as expected. The SE from the .024 folder crashed: NewPtr Memory Allocation Failure. The SE from .042 worked fine.

Using the Platform Editor has always been beyond me. Someone else will have to take this one.

What exactly needs to be checked in the PE? I must be overlooking it in the notes.

Works fine, tested with "res3747" as highest pic id....

Worked fine in SE and GE.

=> Platform display opens the right Ship and shows the correct Pic.

=> I´ll start with res2154 as lowest pic id for my DBs, i hope this no is save for the future to avoid collisions with the official DB :rolleyes:B) or should i go for res3154?

Edit: Restestet it with "res9999" even this seems to be save and working.

I´ve attached my rsr file to this post for future testing. It contains all res files up to res9999 filled with "no pic availbe"+ the official pics below res687.
