File Name: The Last Exocet File Submitter: kmart494 File Submitted: 21 Nov 2015 File Category: Scenarios This is a SimPlot scenario setup file for "The Last Exocet" scenario in the South Atlantic War publication from The Admiralty Trilogy. I had to take some liberties with the UK starting positions as some things were not clear (maybe just typos in the original scenario). This scenario uses the Falklands 1 map from the Map section. Some aircraft units have no velocity. This is to simulate aircraft in a holding pattern. The aircraft that just launched from Rio Grande are climbing/accelerating and have a reduced speed and altitude. Please note ther…

Finally got around to downloading 2.2.3, and am blown away by the changes made and the possibilities it opens up. These were just quick tests I did this morning with some maps for another project.

I have discovered that the in-map text (place names, etc.) tends to look good even when displayed at different zoom levels, except for any text that is within the background area (the black area if you are using default colors). I think this may be because I am using a transparent background (so that users can select whatever color they want). I think the text I add to the maps looks better when drawn on a colored area. This might be due to anti-aliasing. I do have some (not published) maps with a black background instead of transparent that make the text look good all over. The caveat is the background color cannot be changed from within SimPlot. I would like to…

The following is the answer that Mr. Brooks A. Rowlett posted on the Admiralty Trilogy yahoo group in response to my question of whether there is any limitation to the effectiveness of sighting with FLIR when flying in the VLow altitude band. On Mar 30, 2006, at 9:28 PM, Pete Maidhof wrote: > I guess the idea came from limitations of AS radar vs VLow > a/c to the effect of 10% of the max range. The limitations on AS radar are from ground clutter reflecting radar signals back into the radar set. This clutter acts as random energy into the receiver and can be viewed as in effect increasing the noise level of the radar, thus requiring a much stronge…

File Name: Port Arthur (Lushun) File Submitter: kmart494 File Submitted: 03 Apr 2016 File Category: Maps This is a map of the Port Arthur (Lushun) area of the People's Republic of China. This map is intended to be used with the One China - Port Arthur 2 scenario from Harpoon Naval Review 2000. The graphic is "fine scale" because the scenario is primarily an ASW exercise, and so the map is smaller but has finer detail than most other SimPlot maps. The map scale is 10.9 pixels/nm. 17. Just learned how to use SimPlot, wonderful program I was wondering if there will ever be an option to use MGRS (Military Grid Reference System) or Lat/Long (Decimal or Degrees) coordinate systems instead of the usual X and Y, I personally run cross domain Kriegspiel campaigns so either system (But especially MGRS! Is critical for successful integration with ground. That and a world map would be lovely! I recognize that you could in theory already do Lat/Long Decimal Degrees by using X and Y and just syncing up reference points somewhere, but to me MGRS is a lot more useful.

Hi there, I just joined this community. I have played Harpoon since early '80s, starting with Version 1 and running the Resolution 502 campaign when the supplement came out. I have not been playing for many years and with lockdown I resumed and started a remote play campaign again, which is now halfway. In order to handle the campaign I built a series of scripts to handle movement, radar and sonar searches, aircraft launch and land, using a simplified ruleset. You may have a look at the attached image. Now I see this fantastic new edition of Harpoon V and the SimPlot tool, which is vastly superior respect to my homegrown Python scr…

https://discord.gg/t7pekGk in case anyone wants to join a fully public Harpoon 5 Multiplayer discord server. I can help you get to know Simplot2 and how to use it for double-blind games using the Discord channel. We have successfully used this method for both play by post (similar to PBEM style, submit orders, then update Simplot2 then show images then submit next turn orders) and real-time games. Discord offers both voice and video comms too for the realtime games or occasional "team" chats for Red or Blue teams. Excuse the double post to this general forum, but wanted folks to be able to find this if they want to take part. - Peter Robbins

  20. Good morning, So I am reading through the rules for the first edition. The example of play that is described is confusing me. Maybe I'm just not getting it, or maybe there is a typo. Is there errata anywhere for this edition? My problem is: 9-6 is 1-1 6-9 is 1-2 It says to always round down. Can someone explain the 6-9 becoming 1 to 2, I'm just not getting it. I'm stuck, and this is going to bother me until I figure it out. Thank you in advance. -Byron
