Per the H4.1 Rules/Data, the US Mk13 Missile Launcher on (or formerly on) the O.H. Perry FFG has a maximum load of 40 missiles and a mix of 36x SM1MR Block IV/V and 4x Harpoon IC. The Weapons Characteristics of the Perry and this mount lists: F(1)1 Mk13 w/40 see remarks//1 STIR ROF 3 If the rate of fire is 3, how does the example on Page 2-4 of the H4.1 Rules compute a ROF (rounds per minute) is 6? If I assume that it is a two-rail system (I have no personal experience with it), then I understand a ROF of 6. It then complicates the 4x Harpoon IC whose rnds/min in the example states 16. In my theory, two rails firing three rounds per minute - wouldn't tha…

Speed Change (3.3.2.1): Acceleration: (ATA*10%)*Maximum Speed = rate of acceleration. Deceleration: 20% of maximum speed at the start of a phase. Course Changing and Turning (3.3.3): If D-ATA = 0.5 a 90 degree change of course is allowed, all others can change 180 degrees. Altitudes and Altitude Changes (3.3.4): If accelerating 50% of maximum rate of climb (See Change of Altitude Table) If diving greater than 50%, aircraft can double acceleration rate and increase speed by 150% [Edit Dec 2008] There is an official rules change to 3.3.4 in Naval Sitrep #26, April 2004. Pre-calculated Range Reduction Modifiers 1/.3 = 3.3 1/.4 = 2.5 …

If one of a ground unit's inherent air defense assets fires on an enemy aircraft which is attacking a point target within the ground unit's combat box, is that air defense asset's GCS subtracted from the overall unit's GCS if that overall unit takes part in combat that Ground Cobat Turn? A Special Rule in SAW2, page 58 states; "If a plane overflies a combat box and there is a hostile unit equipped with shoulder-fired SAMs, the chance of a plane being attacked by a SAM (being spottedby a soldier with his launcher ready and being within the launchers envelope)is equal to the number of SAMs in the combat box on a D10." What about a plane flying overflying a c…

View File Bugout This is the SimPlot setup file for the Harpoon V scenario "Bugout" that is featured in The Naval SITREP issue #60 (April 2021). The installations are on the map, but the ships are not. This way, players may choose where to place them. All the naval ships and missiles that may be used in the scenario are importable, and are located in the Units folder. Civilian ships are an optional rule, but they are not included in the Units folder. They are very simple to create, with the only differences being the type and maximum speed (and size class, but that is not tracked in SimPlot). This scenario is compatible…

Hi The Sub is not known if the contact is found in a direct path or convergence zone. But an TMA solution is possible only in direct path, less than 20 nm. So, after a few rounds of contact without TMA solution, the Sub will know that the contact is in CZ. Am I right?

Issue #37 arrived today. Just in time to rebuild some more harpoon interest prior to the upcoming MBX. Includes gaming the Iranian air defense. It vaguely reminds me of my attempt to tweak the Kola flow chart a number of years ago, but obviously greater thought, effort and research went into this. Wished for an update on Harpoon and how it is developing in line with the Trilogy harmonization process.

Land based general attack table Has anyone put any time/effort into determining damage points for items not included on the General Attack Table on page 6-20? I'm looking to put together an extended target type list. Has anyone got any ideas for potential extra targets and their damage points, armour level, size and critical hit results? Throw your ideas out there for potential targets, their damage points, armour level, size, critical hit results and other info that might be important. I'll put together some of my own, and comment on others rationalising of targets as they go up.

Hi there, I just joined this community. I have played Harpoon since early '80s, starting with Version 1 and running the Resolution 502 campaign when the supplement came out. I have not been playing for many years and with lockdown I resumed and started a remote play campaign again, which is now halfway. In order to handle the campaign I built a series of scripts to handle movement, radar and sonar searches, aircraft launch and land, using a simplified ruleset. You may have a look at the attached image. Now I see this fantastic new edition of Harpoon V and the SimPlot tool, which is vastly superior respect to my homegrown Python scr…

File Name: One China - Bogies File Submitter: kmart494 File Submitted: 02 Apr 2016 File Category: Scenarios This is the "Bogies" scenario from the "One China" scenario trio in Harpoon Naval Review 2000. This scenario file shows the starting locations for units with a fixed location, and the general areas for units or formations that would be set up per player desires. The exact composition and formation of the US CVBG, the CVBG airborne assets, the PLAAF attack aircraft formations, and the PLAN submarine locations would have to be determined and put into the scenario before beginning the battle. This scenario is designed to use the Northern Taiwan /…

File Name: Port Arthur (Lushun) File Submitter: kmart494 File Submitted: 03 Apr 2016 File Category: Maps This is a map of the Port Arthur (Lushun) area of the People's Republic of China. This map is intended to be used with the One China - Port Arthur 2 scenario from Harpoon Naval Review 2000. The graphic is "fine scale" because the scenario is primarily an ASW exercise, and so the map is smaller but has finer detail than most other SimPlot maps. The map scale is 10.9 pixels/nm. I have discovered that the in-map text (place names, etc.) tends to look good even when displayed at different zoom levels, except for any text that is within the background area (the black area if you are using default colors). I think this may be because I am using a transparent background (so that users can select whatever color they want). I think the text I add to the maps looks better when drawn on a colored area. This might be due to anti-aliasing. I do have some (not published) maps with a black background instead of transparent that make the text look good all over. The caveat is the background color cannot be changed from within SimPlot. I would like to…
