Mk13 Missile Launcher ROF

Featured Replies

Per the H4.1 Rules/Data, the US Mk13 Missile Launcher on (or formerly on) the O.H. Perry FFG has a maximum load of 40 missiles and a mix of 36x SM1MR Block IV/V and 4x Harpoon IC.

The Weapons Characteristics of the Perry and this mount lists:

F(1)1 Mk13 w/40 see remarks//1 STIR ROF 3

If the rate of fire is 3, how does the example on Page 2-4 of the H4.1 Rules compute a ROF (rounds per minute) is 6? If I assume that it is a two-rail system (I have no personal experience with it), then I understand a ROF of 6.

It then complicates the 4x Harpoon IC whose rnds/min in the example states 16. In my theory, two rails firing three rounds per minute - wouldn't that be conceptually 6 as well (since there is only four missiles carried)?

Am I way off - please set me straight.

Thanks,

Please disregard the previous post as it contains some honest, but erronious remarks.

The Mk13 is a single "rail" launcher, hence the (1) in the Weapons Data Line.

Rate of Fire is per engagement turn. I came about this after doing a number of searches on the three yahoo groups and consimworld. Finally came across message #246 on CSW Harpoon4 folder in which Dave Schueler states on 11 July 2003 that the ROF being per engagement turn. This was later confirmed a few messages later in the same folder by Charlie Spiegel as well.

Good enough for me. :D
