I just fired up the old HCE after many years and noticed that a lot of the unit pictures are missing. First I thought I'd ask how to replace/add them, but perhaps a patch fixes the issue? I looked up and apparently my version is 2009.043....

Where are the patches? I see 2017 is mentioned on the forums.

Additionally are there any scenario sites alive apart from this one? I stumble over a lot of dead sites/links out there, and even a lot of the harpgamer links are dead.

The database (DB) updates are located in the Downloads section of this site.

Pictures/photos for the platform entries in the DB have never been a priority, because of the amount of work involved (as compared to actual data), copyright issues, etc.

I am not aware of any other active Harpoon (the computer sim) websites/forums. Please report any dead links on HarpGamer.

 

Thank you for your reply. I went to Matrix games to locate the prerequisite 2015.027 patch. The forums there direct to the "Official Harpoon Commander's Edition Website" - http://www.advancedgaming.biz/hce which is dead/down. Their main page https://www.matrixgames.com/game/larry-bonds-harpoon-commanders-edition has a cookie popup that I am unable to pass, even after clicking accept tons of times, trying different browsers and computers.

Update: I managed to find the Matrix ftp site. There is no newer file than 2009.050 there. So where do I get the 2015.027 file I need before I can update with HC2018.002 and HC2020.009?

Hi Aviator,

Matrix Games segmented the produce by saying that 2009.050 was the end of Harpoon Commander's Edition.  To get up to current you are supposed to buy Harpoon Ultimate Edition which should get real cheap in a few months during the holiday sale.  Alternatively you can roll the dice, make a backup copy of your HCE directory and install the latest beta versions over your 2009.050.  https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/topic/29035-current-files/  The betas are very stable at present.
