July 26, 200818 yr The RAF has two official museums- this is the one I can get to on my Oyster card... Understandably, it focuses on the RAF, but there are some American and German stuff, mostly from the WW1 and WW2 period. Information boards could do with an update in some cases, but there's plenty of aircraft there. Will be pictures uploaded.
July 27, 200818 yr Author OK, to begin with what was in the car park... Image 1 A Bloodhound SAM. These any good in Harpoon? Image 2 Spitfire on the left, Hurricane on the right. These are full-scale replicas. The RAF doesn't want examples of such classic planes rusting in the open...
July 27, 200818 yr The Bloodhound does not appear to be listed in the HCDB. However, the roughly contemporary SA-2 Guideline only has a to hit of 15%, so I suspect that the Bloodhound would not be very good, either.
July 28, 200818 yr Author Thanks. These aren't in any real order. I also brightened some of these up- it was a bit dark in the Bomber Hall. Image 3 They had DA3 there, one of the black-painted prototypes for the Eurofighter Typhoon. Storm Shadow This is a Storm Shadow cruise missile, which can be carried by this and the Tornado GR4. SCALP is another version of it.
August 1, 200818 yr Author OK, here's some more. This is an early Harrier. GR.1 version, IIRC. Harrier A Blackburn Buccaneer. As used in the Gulf War- hence the Pink. We had these too, can you guess what it is? You could look in the cockpit of this.
