Formation Editor in WestPac

Featured Replies

Since upgrading to the lates version (2008.033), and possibly before, I'm having display problem when I play any WestPac Scenario and use Formation Editor. Instead of seeing appropriate Unit Icons, I get black boxes (see attached). This hasn't occured in any of the other Scenarios I've tried in any BS excepr WestPac.

Anyone else having this happen, and more specifically know how to make it appear and disappear?

It doesn't happen to me, but I know when I used to run HC in a WINE setup under Linux it did.

Suspect jiggling map texture/color settings to re-create the issue.

Tony,

I also DL'd the USNI demo to play around with, and it happens there as well. Again, only in WestPac.

OK, I am using the little ship icons instead of the symbols. At first for me it looks as if they aren't there, however, closer inspection reveals the little blue ship icons...they are just incredibly hard to see on the black background (see attatchment). This is a WestPac scenario for reference.

Interestingly enough, If I change the water dispaly option to dark, as opposed to light, the black boxes turn white and the symbols are clearly visible through them (see attached screenshot). So the symbols are definitely there, just hidden beneath the boxes. A workaround, I suppose, but I hate using dark for the water, and again, the problem only occurs in WestPac.

The Fix is probably either making the black boxes clear, or at least turn them lt grey. Red probably shows up well on the black, but the blue just gets completely lost in it.

Why do the boxes need to be there at all? I don't see them in any other BattleSets, including the Caribbean BattleSet I created myself.

I just want to know if you can make them appear or not based on map selections.

Tony,

After trying a scenario in every single BattleSet, including one I made myself, the only place I see any boxes of any kind is WestPac. The rest just show the formation diagram and unit symbols, just as Harpoon always has for all the years I've played it. I also tried the USNI Demo, which I have installed completely separate from my HCE Folder, get boxes in both the GIUK and WestPac BS's, if that helps any.

I normally play with light water color and (dark) gray land. I don't get miscoloring at all. When I switch to the textured WestPac display (both land and water textured), I get the white boxes. If I then switch back to light water and gray land I have the very dark boxes and it doesn't look correct until I close the game and re-open. Does this describe the situation properly (i.e. that light water and gray land is okay if you start that way)?

Tony,

Light water and dark gray land works OK here as well.

Does this still occur in the current betas? I think a separate reported problem by DonG resulted in a fix that works for this issue.
