First off I want to say thank you for everyone who has created and uploaded amazing scenarios! I just got back into Harpoon after a few years and it is great to see people still active in supporting the community.

Now for my question...

Does anyone have any recommendations of scenarios with large numbers of aircraft, carrier battle groups, and bases? I enjoy having a mixture of each element in my games instead of scenarios that focus mainly on just one aspect.

An example of scenarios I really enjoyed are F14 Fleet Defender and Red Line

And thank you again for creating and maintaining a great community!

Welcome back.

Someone who likes large battles like me!

I have created a series of scenarios based on the Spratly Island dispute in the South China Sea.

The first 2 scenarios are to be played as the red side as the Chinese, Russians and North Korea attacking Philippines, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and South Korea.

Scenario 3 is the US, and NATO allies Canada, England and Australia build up large fleets pf ships and start attacking the Russians, Chinese and North Koreans

Scenario 4 part 1 is named Battle of the South China Sea and it involves the NATO nations as well as some Japanese and South Korean ships.

Scenario 4 part 2 (to be releases soon) Battle for Japan. This involves CV task groups in the Sea of Japan, Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk.

The final scenario of the series will be the last 2 scenarios combined to have a massive battle involving 3 Russian/Chinese CV task groups and 5 NATO/Japanese/South Korean CV task groups. Lots of land bases on both sides.

I have created a custom database that needs to be used with the series of scenarios. That database is named HCEEFDB-160710 Fictional Database. There are futuristic weapons systems, planes and ships in the database. These scenarios will require HC2016.003 and later to play. HC 2016.003 is the latest file to play HC with. 2016.010 is a work in progress and has some issues that needs to be worked out.

All scenarios have both naval units and submarines.

All scenarios and the fictional database can be found in the download area of the forum.

There is almost continuous action on multiple fronts at the same time. Battle management will be almost constant.

I am a WW II Pacific Battle fan so never overlook the old way of fighting naval battles.

Using HC's pause function will help launching your air groups for CAP and attack. Always remember in all my scenarios that putting up a stiff defense is sometimes as good and going on the offensive. Let the enemy wear itself down and then attack with vengeance.

These scenarios are very large and push Harpoon to it's limits. The computer side of the scenario creates a lot of single plane air groups which will quickly max out the number of air groups HC is allowed in the software. One of these days we might be able to get TonyE to work on a fix for that.

TonyE is the programmer for HC. CV32 is the database creator and I eeustice just keep breaking HC for TonyE to fix.

If you have any questions please let us know.

Happy Harpooning!

Eric

Welcome! :)

For the most part, you will probably find that the largish scenarios - especially ones involving multiple carrier strike groups and a mix of air, sea and land battles - will be older ones, especially in the GIUK and Westpac battlesets.

Examples that come to mind include:

Westpac - Fleet Ex 83, No More Mr Nice Guy (a really big one), So You Think You Can Dance

GIUK - GIU2, GIU3, Okean 80

Thank you so much. Loved them all. Especially 'No More Mr Nice Guy'! Fighting off endless waves of fighters and bombers, using every last missile and gun ammo due to running out of fighters ready on the carrier, and all while attempting to launch some sort of counter strike. The first two hours literally kept me on the edge of my seat cursing that it takes an hour to refuel and rearm my fighters!

Thanks away

Glad to hear it, lol. :D
