Torpedo guidance flag testing

Featured Replies

It would be appreciated if someone could test the following torpedo guidance flags:

1. Unknown

2. Passive

3. Active/passive

The 'active/passive' flag seems to be producing 0% hit probability, and since the code appears to treat all three flags the same, we'd like to see if all three are being affected.

Thanks!

I remember the flag "Unknown" was employed meaning "Active" (to prevent surprise and alarm to other players reading these post!). I will see the issue later.

"Unknown/Active" is only employed in Mk44 and other old ASW torpedoes in the DB (L3, Mk43 and Type 73) . I see changed the "Unknown" flag in my personal DB some years ago, perhaps because an intuition of the same anomaly.

Active/Passive would works as usual, as mines have Active/Passive seeker and usually work.

I see pasive is employed in old anti-surface torpedoes or dual-use torpedoes, as SAET-60M, SAET-60, YU-4A, Yu-3, Yu-1A, Type 72, E14, E18, MG-44 decoy, MG-74 decoy, SAET-40, MG-14 decoy and SAET-50M.

I see a submarine is limited in the DB to 16 mounts (limiting a little the range of experimentation).

A valid point, which makes me wonder if the operating Depth is having an effect. I continue to look for specific testing of this guidance flag in torpedoes.

Scenario settled, but problems with DB editing!!! (Scenario attached if someone whats to test it, hunter/killer is a Lada-class SS with added torpedoes as Mk44, MU-90, Type 72, but the DB edit is not working).

Targets is an unified group of 10 fishermen East of Lada, and an unified group of 10 mines NW of Lada.

Looks like this might be a dead end.

Created the attached test scenario and ran it with the same GE, battleset, submarine and torpedoes ... and the torpedoes appear to be functioning just fine.

My earlier experience of firing 12 torpedoes for 12 misses was completely bizarre ... but may have been a one-off?
