User Scenario causes GE to stop working

Featured Replies

New member, long time Harpooner- when I saw there is now a 32bit scenedit, I was ecstatic. Alas, I cant get it to work!

Here's what I did:

1. from autorun, hit 'UPDATE' - no (apparent) issues

2. now have HC build 2015.027, HCDB - 150928 and Wscenedt32.exe

3. played game, no issues (EC2003 Battle for the Atlantic Ocean / Scenario 6.0 Lead Off)

4. closed game - opened scen editor - edited same scenario above.

5. opened HC - opened my (user) scenario

6. orders I had created showed up, when I closed that window the game thought for about 5 sec

7. received error window stating 'Game Engine stopped Working'

8. user cried

Any help?! Please!

Thanks!

Zip up your scenario, attach it to a reply here (use More Reply Options to get the attachment area) and I'll have a look. The SE really does work :)

You have an empty group. Group AJR has no units so the GE panics when it tries to place the group on the map. More later...

Classic (and fatal) mistake.

The curious part is that I don't know how you got the empty group in there in such a way that the SE can't see it.

I've attached a copy of the scenario with that empty group removed. The next build of the SE will check for empty groups and not save them to the scenario file.

Thanks for looking into this. Didn't know I had created the empty base (doh!). So my bonehead mistake actually identified a system deficiency...don't I get some kind of reward for that?

But really, thanks again for your help!

The reward is knowing that as time goes on Tony is still making HC better. Tony has fixed several of exceeding the original limits of HC over the last several years.

I'm glad to see Tony is going to fix the "0" units in a group. Have done the base thing a couple times and it took me awhile to figure it out.

Glad you like the new HC SE.

Happy Harpooning!

This is some awesome work, the updated game (especially the SE) is amazing. Thanks for all the work and the help! Off to design my CX Arsenal Ship.

If your interested I have a fictional database, in the down loads section of HarpGamer with a Arsenal Ship and lots of other new things. I am in the final testing of a concept ship the that I came across from the UK of what they are calling a Dreadnought 2050. A very interesting design.

Below is the link to the Fictional db I created based on the official HC db:

Here is a link to one of the articles on the Dreadnought 2050:
