December 4, 200718 yr Well, I'd have to say 2 v 2 in Fighters Anthology would do even better That would involve a mighty big assumption of "pilot" proficiency. For example I have FA, but you and a few others can attest there is a reason for my infantry background, a compelling reason for me to stay on terra-firma.
December 5, 200718 yr "We" could try this in HCE...when it's released. I'm tempted to do just that, Pete, though perhaps we can all agree that the results wouldn't be conclusive. (Translation: I wouldn't want the F-14 aficionados to cry foul. ) Fun, nonetheless. Maybe a series of scenarios with various air wing combinations. Most likely inconclusive since the 1980's CAW would be up against 1980's air defenses, while the 2000's CAW would be against relatively up-to-date air defenses. To allow the current CAW to go against single digit SAM's wouldn't be fair for the 80s wing, ...but who said anything about being fair!
December 6, 200718 yr Author Well, you could always put the F-14/A-6 CVW aboard a 21st century CVN and CSG, and vice versa, put the F/A-18E/F CVW aboard a 1980s era CV and CVBG.
