I have made some mods to the RE.

 

Activating/creating two new Statistic Functions allowing to create overvies of the db. (please don´t try to print them (500 sheets of paper! ))

 

But exporting/printing as a pdf works fine.

 

and i added two data fields to the ship and plane screen. Hoping Tony can use them at some time to create a sort by date function for Units in the SE.

 

ATM those fields do nothing except you can enter the inservice date for shipclasses/planes (format month/year-month/year) and you can enter inservice and retiered dates for each single ship.

Hi All, I think this is as good a point as any to make a few comments about what Rene has done here, and help guide such efforts as we move forward. I really like what Rene has done and do hope to make use of some of his ideas, and directly his work, as it can be worked into the game. For one, I don't like making reports and Rene has made some very nice ones.

 

We (HC3, or whatever Brad, Akula, and I are called) want to encourage these ideas and contributions. That Rene kept his modifications inside of the beta group was key. Public release of such modifications is not allowed since the PE is AGSI's. To that end, if there is demand, we'll make a shell Access database available against which people can write reports and redistribute said creations without AGSI approval (this is approximately the model I use with dbComp on the H3 side but that situation is more complicated and required AGSI's approval and agreement).

 

Now the disappointing part but also some common sense... We need most of your testing time spent on the real PE, not any user offshoots. We're here to beat on the game components as well as expand and that means mainly beating on the pieces that are official. Yes, use Rene's modifications as you see fit and make modifications of your own, but please spend the majority of your available time on the official programs.
