September 10, 201213 yr Hello people. Being a Harpoon classic/gold player, and usually updating myself the database via the platform editor coming with the game, I was rather annoyed when I found out that there were no platform editor within my H3 disk. I was even more annoyed when i could not find any web pages having a working H3 database editor download..... How could I get one? Hoping of earring of you soon, regards. Mor Breizh.
September 10, 201213 yr What version of the game do you have (there are many H3 versions and the availability of the editor varies depending upon the version)?
September 11, 201213 yr Author Hello And thank you for such a fast reply. I now posses Harpoon's Ultimate Edition which consists of Harpoon Advanced Naval Warfare Harpoon3 ANW v3.9.4 (I think i'd use that one as it seems the newest one). Harpoon3 v3.6.3 I would play them on my windows7 system And Harpoon Commander Edition that I more often use, and that I play on my XP system. (it seems I can't update it though) (I have a Mac/parallel desktops).
September 11, 201213 yr Mor Breizh, you're French? I can assist you in DB editing for Harpoon3 if you need. 3.9.4 isn't the latest in the series, it's 3.10 (Harpoon Ultimate Advanced Naval Warfare), soon to be updated to 3.11. FG
September 11, 201213 yr Author Thanks Gunny. I didn't know that Harpoon was still being updated (my updaters don't seem to work properly, they can't connect to the sever). Editing is okay, it's just that I haven't the program to do it, and that's what I am looking for. Since I have 3 different copies of H3 in the pack, I think that I wouldn't mind on the version compatibility of the DB editor program, I'll adjust my game version to it. I already do edit my Harpoon CE which is quite easy, though limited to only 2047 items per category, and as I am a very exhaustive db editor (singling F-16Cs from Ds for example) I sometimes have to much information for the DB ^^ . I couldn't find a DB editor for H3 and I can't find a single airbase or port structure in the DBs that I have so I would make them once and for all and then use them to create scenarii. I found out that to make a base in H3 in the scenario editor is very demanding as you have to literally build it. When you do a"continental scenario" in which you put 40 some bases, it can be a bit long to place them all. As for being French, well that's what my passport says, but I am a Breton. Welsh, Cornish and Breton used to be the same people and we retain some differences from the French (like language and culture). Actually, my harpgamer name Mor Breizh is the name of the English Channel in breton (literally Sea Brittany or in proper english Breton Sea). And since Welsh and us are so close, I went there to do my studies. Thanks again for the info and help MB.
September 13, 201213 yr Author Hello. I finally managed to get the database editor working. It looks quite a fastidious work to do to mod it compared to HCE. Thank for all the help and advices. MB.
September 14, 201213 yr I use HCE and ANW about equally, and I've found it best (for me anyway) to do a total mental data dump on either one before switching to the other. It's saved me from myself more than once. Buddha
May 27, 201510 yr I am using Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare, version 3.7.0.0 (I think). The database is "Harpoon 3 Standard Database". So I have noticed that some naval units, i.e. CVHG Invincible are using the 30mm Goalkeeper CIWS, having a maximum range of 8.0nm. So is described in the database windows of the unit,. while playing a scenario. Now, because I believe that there is a reasonable error (max. range 8.0, instead of a more correct 0.8...), I ask what can I do on the database to correct the value in the "range" field. Is there a database editor for "Harpoon 3 Standard Database"? Thanks, Steve.
