May 18, 201114 yr I'm interested in comments from H3/ANW old hands regarding the different versions of the game that are in the ultimate edition relesae. One item that might be a hiderance to me is my RAM, 1/2 gig including onboard video. 3.6.3 seems to play more smoothly than ANW [3.10.1 update?] and it handles automated ASW work better (my observation open to user error). ANW certainly has a few nice extra bits but I'm looking for what will play the game best. Recent custom scenarios look far more interesting to me than the old built in ones (and I need up dated databases to run them but haven't yet managed to effect this in 3.6.3), how would this effect version choice? Are there any undocumented keyboard short cuts? I try to mouse as little as possible. Should I just go by the assumption that always "latest performs best"?? Anyone got general comments (without taking too much of your time)? Don
May 18, 201114 yr Don, the H3 versions 3.7 onwards up to the current 3.10 are called ANW, 3.10 itself is called UE ANW. These newer series has a lot of nice new features like ship-to-ship UnRep, boarding & takeover, chained missions. The older lines up to 3.6.3 do indeed run much faster and I, too, am convined taht the AI is meaner than the ANW one. In addition to that there are some more or less weird behaviours (still) in ANW, which 3.6.3 doesn´t have. So if you are looking for the version which is most aggressive and has less bugs/weird behaviours; your choice is 3.6.3. Regards, Ralf

Regards, Ralf 363 definitely has a better AI, and i prefer it over ANW. i still make all my scenarios in the 363 SE so they work in 3.6. Of course 363 also has bugs, the most annoying of which is probably the visual sighting bug which means ships always see each other at 20nm range. Freek
