  1. OK I see, and having both fuel and range for an aircraft would give you the fuel consumption. Another question: I can find published (open source) values for cruise speed and/or max speed for various aircraft, is there a formula for calculating/estimating the speeds at different altitudes? Any guidance would be much appreciated, thanks. Paragon
  2. I'm tinkering with the platform editor at the moment and have a few questions about the way fuel consumption works. As I understand it you set the range for particular loadouts. So what is the significance of the range figure in the aircraft description form. Is that just for reference? Also what is the significance of the fuel entry? Surely the fuel consumption etc. is modelled simply as range? Thanks Paragon
  3. The BBC has a short video of the incident and a recording of the radio threat here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7177946.stm I'm not sure how long this link is valid for.
  4. Yeah I zipped the commondb.res and commondb.rsr files. The file size is around 10MB. Paragon, It looks as though players will not be able to redistribute the photos from AGSI that came from the game, they will at some point be available from AGSI. So I think it was valid advice to take the commondb.rsr out of your zip file and upload the rest to the downloads section with the note to use the commondb.rsr file included with the game. OK I've done this and the file has uploaded fine. Thanks Paragon
  5. Yeah I zipped the commondb.res and commondb.rsr files. The file size is around 10MB.
  6. I'm having trouble uploading a database to the site, it keeps timing out. I believe the files are within the size limit. Any ideas? I've tried from two different internet connections so I don't think the problem's at my end.
  7. Thanks for your help, I've solved that initial problem, but am still having trouble writing new scenarios. Is the 'commondb' folder the only item that needs to be copied in order to switch databases? I created a new database, and a new scenario to start playtesting. When I attempted to run the new scenario the game crashed (GetAnnex error: ADDIDToListError: expected a disk ID, got 0 (0x0)). So I reverted to the original commondb file, and tried again, my scenario still crashed, as did a battleset scenario in the hc2003 med battleset. I figured that I'd inadvertently screwed something up in the original database, so I reinstalled the game. Then I copied in my modified commondb file and my scenario opened fine. However, the new installations that I'd created had reverted to their original names, SAMs and sensors, in fact they were all back to how they'd started except for their co-ordinates, which remained as I'd changed them. I'm pretty confused, so any help is appreciated. Update: Been playing with this problem for a bit, think my main problem is the way I'm editing installations - in some cases I need to remove sensors and mounts from an existing installation. The only way I can see of doing this is replacing the mount code number with zero. This seems to work in the editor but causes the game to crash. I'm getting quite frustrated with this - anyone have any advice? (I'm not really familiar with Access so perhaps I'm missing something). Thanks
  8. Seems like everyone's covered most of the things I'd thought of. One more thing though is, I'm not sure how the radar is modelled in HCE, but if it's the same as HC97 there's nothing like terrain masking etc. Probably a real pain to code I'd imagine, but would be nice in terms of asymmetric scenarios in the littoral, or hiding land-based SAMs or targets in valleys etc.
  9. OK thanks for your help.
  10. Hi, I've newly bought HCE, having previously owned HC97, so the Platform Editor is new to me (I'm also not really familiar with Microsoft Access so this may be a simple problem). I have opened the pfbuild2005 file and created several new installations. I exported the database and opened the scenario editor (with PE now closed). However, only one of my new airbases was visible in the 'create new base' menu. I'm not sure why this is. I deleted my new ones and started again, with a similar result (but this time only two new bases visible). Any ideas? All help is appreciated, thanks.
