It will get louder if and when the F-35 arrives. Lots of whale watching in my part of the world, but I'm not sure how conducive jet noise is to that activity. (I suppose active sonar is the sound of freedom, too). This from someone who grew up on a former USAF airbase and has an appreciation for the many good things it can offer.

Read my post again. I don't disagree. My comments are made in relation to HCE. Not in HCE. A nuke will smack you right in the kisser. Most of us are well aware of the 'conservative' speed estimates used in the OSI. Its not that closely guarded a secret. They're going to have to be built more cost effectively - and the air wings too! - if they are to survive the most deadly threat of all: politics.

Including the carrier without an air wing, as BLUE, would be my choice. I don't know if the carrier figures in your victory conditions, but if it does, then you have little choice. If necessary, you can adjust the BLUE air forces to exclude the bulk of the carrier capable aircraft.

I agree, Greg. Edit: Something of a hypocritical comment to add from the perspective of HCE. In many cases, I will prefer an airfield to a carrier, assuming my assets have the range to reach their targets and self-defenses are adequate. Why? You can't torpedo an airfield.

Ah, okay. That explains it. It will keep Truman from being targeted by RED, though, and I expect you're aware of that. Including her as BLUE would certainly rely on the honesty of the player to keep an air wing off board. I did create a 'damaged merchie' entry in the DB, but I think the utility is limited.

Two items of note: 1. I don't see the damaged carrier Truman in the scenario. Is she supposed to be present? 2. I wonder if Blue air forces might be in need of some tanker support, given the distances involved.

I was away when the ATT effort concluded in failure. I'm not a big fan of the UN's many grandiose (but fundamentally flawed) ideas to start with, and I'm not sorry this one died on the vine.

Taking a bit of a break from DB work to focus on writing some scenarios in the backlog, but the MQ-4C Triton and Wildcat are definitely on the "to do" list. Keep posting requests!
