It wasn't supposed to be easy, but it can be beat. I don't want to post how to beat it though for those that haven't played it yet.

Clemens, Westpac is the Battleset, not the database (DB). I assume you used the stock HCDB? Yes HCDB, stayed up late to finish that because I had insomnia. That's what I get for posting that late. Good thing I wasn't drinking too

Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
Already present, and used for the first time in Clemens' recently released Senkaku scenario for Westpac. Yes, but it needs the MK41 VLS for essm added to the platform 2X8 cells to be accurate

File Name: SCS Bully for You File Submitter: Clemens File Submitted: 29 Apr 2012 File Updated: 1 May 2012 File Category: WestPac DB Used: HCDB Authors: Clemens Battleset-WPac: .scq - WPac - WestPac Scenario Background: Numerous incidents in the South China Sea have finally enraged the PRC leadership. As a consequence they have declared all their territorial claims in the South China Sea to be an exclusion zone. To enforce the exclusion zone the Shi lang and escorts are being dispatched to the SCS. Virtually every nation with a territorial claim in the Spratly's has had their navy set sail and their air forces are conducting combat patrols over their territorial claims. Red Only Red Orders: Your orders Admiral are to remove any and all non Chinese vessels from our declared exclusion zone. Any ships, combatant and non-combatant alike, should be first told to leave the territorial waters of the PRC, any resistance or even delay by any ship in exiting our territorial waters should be met with whatever force you feel is necessary to accomplish your mission. If there is any interest I can rework this to be played blue side too Click here to download this file

Clemens' questions about HCDB
If that's the case then I'm not sure the requests cannot be accommodated. Excerpt from the HCDB FAQ: If you have a relatively clear idea of what you will be needing, post the requests in the 'requests for HCDB' thread and we can work from there. That will work. I was just reluctant to ask for additions that might be used rather rarely. I'm already limiting my wishlist to what I consider to be somewhat relevant platforms. In other words I won't be asking for a gunboat with a 20mm gun as it only armament to be added. I'll try to supply links with the data on each platform I request.

Clemens' questions about HCDB
Fictional? no Hypothetical? only in that the ships in question haven't been completed yet. I am basically looking at the 2015 -2020 timeframe and what hulls should be in service at that time based on construction plans and purchasing lists. A couple examples are the Sigma 10514 and the project 15A and B in India.

Clemens' questions about HCDB
I installed access runtime 2010 32 bit with no problems and the editor seems to work fine. The editor seems pretty simple especially because of the fact that if I add anything it will largely consist of copying an existing platform and selecting slightly different weapons. One question on this subject though, is this instruction guide still current? http://www.harpoonpages.com/ftp/HC2002_GOL..._User_Guide.htm If i decide to do a custom database I plan on modifying existing platforms that are no longer in service e.g.. Iowa class battleships entry modified into a frigate My reservations about doing this are mainly that I don't like a totally new DB that splits off from the standard database. I'm hoping to put together about a dozen scenarios in the westpac battleset and I question the necessity of a new DB for just 12 scenarios. The problem I am having is all the frigate sized ships being built (or planned) in this part of the world. Any advice as to the pros and cons is welcome.

Clemens' questions about HCDB
I have a few questions about the DB and please excuse my ignorance on the subject, Ive been away from harpoon for several years now. I'm currently putting together some scenarios in the westpac battleset and I'm running into a few problems. I am trying to construct the scenarios reasonably realistically, Some of it is hypothetical but I'm not doing things like giving Singapore an aircraft carrier but I am using platforms that won't be in service until the 2015-2020 time frame. The problem is the huge buildup in forces in the area. When I look up some ships, I find several variations of the same hull being used and the DB doesn't include all of them. Some of the variations are minor but some could potentially have a decent impact on gameplay. I'd rather not use a custom DB to construct these scenarios but I will if that is what seems to be necessary. I guess I'll just list my questions for whoever wants to answer them. 1. will openoffice work with the editor? 2. My understanding is the current DB is pretty much full, correct? 3. if so, are the any plans to start a new DB based more on the year 2000 and later timeline?

Taiwan to buy OHPs?
I saw that too, looks like there are several countries interested in them. Pakistan, (dumb move if we give them any of them0 and IIRC the Philippines want a couple of them also.

Sushi Sushi everywhere and not a bite to eat
Sinking the Shi Lang should have triggered the victory conditions, I'll check the victory conditions again. I set them for at least 50% damage to a CV as one condition for victory.

Sushi Sushi everywhere and not a bite to eat
Just a small scenario based on the Senkaku Islands dispute. This is my first scenario after a several years without harpoon on my computer, so please offer any and all critiques on this as I hope to write several scenarios based on the Senkaku and Spratly Islands and Taiwan, (possibly involving NK and SK too)

This is my first scenario after a several years without harpoon on my computer, so please offer any and all critiques on this as I hope to write several scenarios based on the Senkaku and Spratly Islands and Taiwan, (possibly involving NK and SK too) The background is yet another confrontation by chinese fishing trawlers. Several had anchored just off of one of the islands. As expected a standoff ensued until the JCG attempted to board the chinese trawlers. Shots were fired and both sides claimed the other fired first. Injuries were light and the chinese vessels finally departed but the Chinese were enraged to the point of sending a battalion of PLA to occupy the islands and put an end to the dispute. Japan has to defend the Senkaku Islands but is not willing to fire the first shot. Your mission is to prevent the PLA battalion from getting ashore by either remaining on station between the Chinese CSG and the Senkakus or damaging the CV thereby forcing the CSG to return to port. Weapons are tight, fire on chinese forces only after demonstrated hostile intent by the Chinese forces. Battleset is Westpac and the DB is HCDB-120405 Click here to download this file

The 22DDH would be nice. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/japan/22ddh.htm I'm working on a scenario based around the Senaku Islands and I'm currently using a 16DDH but the 22DDH would be a better fit

32-bit Scenario Editor Progress
This won't be a solution everyone wants to try but there is a place near us that is selling older XP P4 systems with monitor, keyboard and mouse for $100. You have to move files between computers but you don't have to mess with setting up a virtual machine that way. Full disclosure, I have no affiliation at all with this company but if anyone is interested drop me a note I will send you the link or you can just google for used computers coming off business leases. There are tons of them out there pretty cheap, just make sure it comes with an OS (some don't)
