Falklands 2015/2020
For running the editor win7 64bit I use virtualbox and have XP running inside it. Works like a charm. The virtual machine boots in almost no time and once booted I just suspend it when closing virtualbox. Might give that a go, how does it work?

File - Custom - Falkland 2010-1
Its a good idea to give us some more detail about what you did. Which database version, where did you place which files? Did you open the game using HCLauncher (this makes it easier with database management). What happened "it won't seem to open"? Could you see the battleset in selection window or not, etc I note there are two "faulklands" battlesets, as TeTeT says, use divefreak's battleset "Faulklands/southatlantic, (not the "Faulkland island War" battleset). That might be the problem? Don Thomas I was trying the launcher and I thought I had the right battleset but will give it another go!

Hiya mate, possible silly question but how do I get this to open? I've downloaded the required database and opened what I thought was the right Battleset but it wont seem to open!

Falklands 2015/2020
Will be starting work on this soon, been complicated by a full switch to 64 bit Windows 7 until I can get XP Professional Dual Booting on my new laptop!

Dual Core Support?
HC will definitely run faster on the Core 2 Duo. The Atom and Core 2 series cannot be compared GigaHertz to GigaHerts, the Core 2 just plain does a whole lot more per clock cycle than the Atom. Plus as Don hints, the second core will let Windows do a lot of its being on that second core while HC is sucking down processing power. Thanks Tony, I can confirm the 1.4Ghz Core 2 Duo spanks the 1.6Ghz Atom and even very intensive HCE scenarios are now flying along! Very pleased that I can now indulge my passion for Harpoon on the move!

Dual Core Support?
Heres a query then, my current netbook has a bog standard 1.6Ghz Atom CPU and the one I'm looking to buy has a 1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Chip, for most things this will be night and day compared to the old Atom but if Harpoon doesn't use two cores surely that means I would be taking a performance hit from 1.6Ghz on the 1 core CPU to 1.4Ghz on one core of the dual core cpu??

Had a look at the HCDA Database, a lot of Argentine Platforms in there!

Falklands 2015/2020
I'm planning on doing a Falkland Islands scenario or possibly a few to study the various different force capabilities that would be available to the Royal Navy / RAF to mount a re-taking of the Falkland Islands should Argentina decide to invade depending on the timescales for attack. Looking at 2011 / 2015 and 2020 Basically 2011: Patched up Carrier Group with HMS Ocean, Illustrious and maybe even a rusting Ark Royal, with a few remaining Harrier GR9 planes any maybe some Harrier II's "borrowed " from the US Marines. Possibility of regional intervention from Argentine Allies (maybe Brazil - Carrier Sau Paulo ex Foch) 2015: Potential scenario with no British Carrier at all or Maritime Strike Aircraft so either invoking the UK-French agreement to use the Charles De Gaulle or flying American Harriers off of HMS Ocean maybe??? or Perhaps Commonwealth India lends the Royal Navy the Viraat (HMS Hermes) to retake the Falklands 30 years on! Again possible intervention of Brazilian Navy 2020: HMS Queen Elizabeth, a Carrier Strike Wing of F-35C Joint Strike Fighter, a full contingent of Astute Class SSN's and Type 45 Destroyers showcase the next generation of the Royal Navy to evict the Argies! Any suggestions on Argentine Naval Forces present and future would be great though!

Dual Core Support?
Well I'm going to keep hold of my netbook just now, between Harpoon and TOAW3 thats where most of my time goes when I'm sitting in a hotel room, airport or plane, I've got a Seagate Momentus XT Drive coming for it which is kinda a hybrid 7200RPM Hard Drive and SSD which I'm hoping will further improve performance of not just Harpoon but my whole system! Just waiting on my new extended battery that should give me 10 hours life to sink those pesky Soviet ships!

Dual Core Support?
I can't comment on dual core stuff (I use a celeron 2.8GHz in my Acer TravelMate 240) but I do know that it made a HUGE difference for me when I went from 256 meg RAM to 512. Even if you do buy 'up' I'd look at an instant RAM upgrade at purchase if its not dear, and usually it's not. Don Thomas I did add an extra 2GB RAM to my netbook and it has made a big difference not just to Harpoon but everything!

Dual Core Support?
I've been playing Harpoon on my Netbook and while it is playable it can bog down sometimes which I put down to the pretty poor 1.6Ghz Atom processor in my Compaq Netbook. I've been looking at "trading up" to an Acer Travelmate 8371 which has a 1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor which is slower 1 core v 1 core but dual core is basically 2.8 Ghz, so I was wondering if Harpoon would actually utilise two cores?

Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
The main draw of the F-35C over the STOVL F-35B is the longer range, thats why I'd like it added!!

Took a quick shot, starts very quickly!!! Was hard to keep afloat but on my second go I got more aircraft in the air, the JSF seems a brilliant air interceptor, lot of Missiles and seem decent performance too, very impressed.

Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2
Would it be possible to have a Royal Navy version of the F-35C Joint Strike Fighter as it seems that at least one of the QE Class vessels will be CATOBAR for the F-35C. I know we have a generic International Version but one with British loadouts for example Storm Shadow and the Meteor AAM would be great.

Ultimate Edition Compatibility
Cheers guys, I've kept my HCE install and updated that, will probably just revert to using only my HCUE install eventually! Loving the HC launcher much improved for swapping databases!

Will download this and have a play tonight, didnt notice it was available to try!

Ultimate Edition Compatibility
Just wondering if all the other databases are compatible with HCUE that I've just bought, wanted to try the WW2 database and some of the scenarios. Secondly is there any easy way of swapping databases or is it easier to have maybe 2 installations? Also is the Commanders Ultimate Edition compatible with the beta versions, as in can I install them over the top or should I keep my HCE install for that?

Looking forward to being able to try this! I think I'm going to try my hand at a Falklands 2020 scenario.

no thanks to the koreans. Sounds good!!!

Well Chinese intervention gets interesting, you could go for the land based option of the Xian H6 which is a Chinese licensed .TU16 Badger Bomber. Or another option would be a Chinese carrier group centred around possibly the ex Russian Kuznetsov Class the Varyag with the SU33 as a carrier borne strike group.

How about something along the lines of British Carrier Group is patrolling off North Korea as part of UN sanctions against North Korea after continued nuclear testing and beligerence toward South Korea. A showdown ensues between the British Task Force and the North Korean Airforce after an F35C patrollling in disputed international airspace refuses to land at a North Korean airbase after being intercepted by NK Migs, the F35C is shot down and so begins retalitory British Air Strikes against SAM sites and the airbase that launched the attack. P.S Maybe throw in some coast based North Korean Surface to Surface missiles the NK military likes to test them!

Yeah something like that! I guess the biggest issue with a scenario set with a strike against North Korea is do the Chinese get involved..............

Hm you are correct, I wonder how easily it would be to add the 'C' variant allowed for the QE class. Ah it seems it can be done, in the scenario editor under UK forces only the F35B is there, presumably as before 2 weeks ago it was the version the Royal Navy was going to get, however the F-35C variant is listed under "International" and can be added to the QE Class. Oh I didnt see that, nice catch! So the QE CVH has: 36 F-35C's 4 seakings 2 merlins 4 lynx type 23 cup x2 type 45 daring x2 albion x1 ocean x1 -12 seaking -6 lynx HMS Ocean is scheduled to be paid off in 2018, was comissioned in 1998 with an intended life of 20 years, so unlikely that we will have HMS Ocean and an operational F-35C squadron on an QE Class carrier at the same time, although I imagine if there was a general increase in global threat HMS Ocean could have its service life extended.

The Falkland's War: naval perspective
I came across this online: http://www.naval-history.net/NAVAL1982FALKLANDS.htm Seems to be an online version of the Battle Atlas
