Requests/Issues

Request platform additions and changes here

Guidelines for Requests/Issues

Please include the following information with your request:
1. Version of ANW you are using, ex. 3.10.1
2. Version of HUD4 you are currently using, ex. 1.6.5
3. IF you are reporting an issue, provide a saved game and instructions to reproduce the issue if possible.
4. If you are request a new platform, provide information and links you think would be useful. Bonus points for giving a teaser on how you will use the platform.
5. One request or issue per thread. So ask for the DD-963 as of 1982, not the entire French Navy. For the French Navy you would post a number of requests for individual classes.
6. Periodically, finished items (icon12.gif, icon11.gif, and some icon9.gif) will be moved to the archives

When you make a new request, please set the topic icon to icon13.gif
The maintainer will set it to icon9.gif when the request/issue has been fulfilled/addressed
If you see icon8.gif the request is refused
Any player who has tested the change can post to that effect and request that the icon be set to icon11.gif
Ideally the reporter will also test and then set the icon to icon12.gif

Naming conventions:
Civilian ships have the "CIV" tag in front of the name.
Crime/offense-related units have the "CRIM" tag.
Soviet/Russian ships name is preceded by the Project number.
PRC ships have their name preceded by Type number.
NATO units are preceded by the Pennant number.
US units have the US designation number.
Before requesting a platform, players are advised to track it in the list, under the lead unit's name or class' name.

Piper PA-28 Cherokee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_Cherokee Hey, a day without me proposing new platforms is like a day without sunshine. Descriptive text for database: One of the most popular civilian utility aircraft in the world. Seats four (pilot and three passengers). ANW HUD 4 v1.1 b10

Many classes in the HUD-4 do not have any description listed. The following is an attempt to provide some basic text that can simply be cut and paste into the database by Gunny whenever it is convenient for him to do so. Facts (dates, etc.) were gathered from Wikipedia, but I have tried to make sure I have not used the actual wording or phrasing that occurs in the Wikipedia articles. Obviously, if any of these are wrong, etc., please feel free to post corrections so that Gunny can use that information. Here are the first set of ship descriptions. They are very basic, but for now I figure they are better than nothing. If anyone has any ideas for fleshing any of them ou…

Quick question... I don't mind going through the HUD-4 and identifying the ships for which the descriptive text is missing or incorrect (or, at least, doing as much as I can). I don't even mind finding appropriate text in various databases, online sources, etc., and posting the information so that Gunny can update the database more easily. However, I wanted to find out if there are any restrictions on using certain sources. Can the descriptions from the Harpoon Encyclopedia (http://www.harpoondatabases.com/Index.aspx) be used? That would seem a logical choice, but I did not know if there were any restrictions on using that information. Thanks in advance…

Bugs to be fixed when there is time... Both the 240 Kaszub and the 241 Gawran have their top speeds listed as 1180 knots. I fear this may be incorrect. The AKE Lewis and Clark is listed as having a top speed of 528 knots. The GC 21 Guaicamacuto and the upgrade version are listed as having top speeds of 1,775 knots I did not find any others, but it is possible I missed them. Mark

Buckley-class destroyer escort http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckley_class_destroyer_escort Another class of World War II ships that served in a few places through the 1980s. Chile and Mexico both had ships from this class (sometimes called the "Charles Lawrence" class) in their navies in the 1980s. Not a critical addition, but might be nice to have for some scenarios someday. ANW HUD 4 v1.1 b10

River class minesweeper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_class_minesweeper Again, I know it will be a while before Gunny gets a chance to consider these, but I'm posting them now, as I find possibilities for additions, so he has them for later reference. This class was retired quickly, it appears, but some ships have found a new life as patrol corvettes for Brazil. ANW HUD 4 v1.1 b10

Herman Hum pointed out that the PS Emilio Jacinto does not appear to have any fuel in its database listing, which means the ship is unable to move. This was in "Celebes Sea Slam"; I simply replaced the PS with another Philippine ship so the problem should no longer exist. I'm not sure if this was one freak event or if it is a more widespread problem (I have not found it in other ships, but I may have just missed it), but I thought I should mention it to people. Herman is cheerfully pointing out on FilesofScenShare that the HUD is "infested" with errors. Here is the link... http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/FilesO...re/message/1607 Admittedly, I am usi…

Attacker class patrol boat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attacker_class_patrol_boat This class appears to be the main fighting ship in the Lebanese navy. While small, it is armed, and it could certainly serve as "eyes on the water" for a coalition. ANW HUD 4 v1.1 b11
