Requests/Issues

Request platform additions and changes here

Guidelines for Requests/Issues

Please include the following information with your request:
1. Version of ANW you are using, ex. 3.10.1
2. Version of HUD4 you are currently using, ex. 1.6.5
3. IF you are reporting an issue, provide a saved game and instructions to reproduce the issue if possible.
4. If you are request a new platform, provide information and links you think would be useful. Bonus points for giving a teaser on how you will use the platform.
5. One request or issue per thread. So ask for the DD-963 as of 1982, not the entire French Navy. For the French Navy you would post a number of requests for individual classes.
6. Periodically, finished items (icon12.gif, icon11.gif, and some icon9.gif) will be moved to the archives

When you make a new request, please set the topic icon to icon13.gif
The maintainer will set it to icon9.gif when the request/issue has been fulfilled/addressed
If you see icon8.gif the request is refused
Any player who has tested the change can post to that effect and request that the icon be set to icon11.gif
Ideally the reporter will also test and then set the icon to icon12.gif

Naming conventions:
Civilian ships have the "CIV" tag in front of the name.
Crime/offense-related units have the "CRIM" tag.
Soviet/Russian ships name is preceded by the Project number.
PRC ships have their name preceded by Type number.
NATO units are preceded by the Pennant number.
US units have the US designation number.
Before requesting a platform, players are advised to track it in the list, under the lead unit's name or class' name.

In 1972, a short naval battle was fought between American and North Vietnamese forces. To recreate this battle in the HUD, we should add the following platforms (with 1972 loadouts...would they be similar to 1980 loadouts?), if they are not already available... 13. A number of civilian boats that are not currently armed could have armed versions. This would allow one to simulate various kinds of police and criminal vessels. CIV 5 m. Speedboat Small Arms <-- a terrorist version with machine guns is already available (I might change the 12.7 mm. machine gun to a 7.62 mm. machine gun), but an additional version could be added where the people aboard only have a few pistols and rifles. Obviously, the boat couldn't stand up to much, but might give a coast guard helicopter or some other lightly armed patrol platform a bit of trouble. In Harpoon Commanders' Edition, you can have mines by treating them as small, immobile submarines with "torpedos" that have extremely short range. Would it be possible to do something like this in ANW? Scenarios involving mines would add a very interesting dimension to the game, especially since mines are cheap and it is a way for small or poor countries to give big or rich countries grief. One could also add mines, I guess, as a kind of torpedo, with no speed but infinite "fuel." If a ship gets too close...it goes off as it had hit the ship! But you would need minelayers to release them. But that would give us an excuse to add minelayers to the database. …

  16. Started by MSO Bob,

Can anyone tell me where I can get a copy of HUD4? I just got back into Harpoon last year, got the ultimate edition, and found this site to see what the status of the game was. I started noticing references to mines and mine hunting that, as a mine sweep sailor really peaked my interest. I know it's not included in HUD3 or ANW, at least I haven't seen it so I would enjoy seeing how it plays out in a Harpoon like setting. Thanks in advance!

This would simply be the Russian trawler with more elaborate sensors, something like this version... http://www.harpoondatabases.com/Platform.aspx?DB=1&Type=Ship&ID=451 (It's actually a larger ship; I don't know if that is important...I don't know how big the ESM equipment is...suffice that this trawler would have some advanced surveillance equipment and would be able to rely information to task forces, etc.) ...and also with a bit more in the way of weaponry...probably at least one SA-7 SAM missile for dealing with pesky helicopters, etc. I don't think it would have mounted machine guns, but maybe an RPG or two or something else it could use to defen…
