Mines?

Featured Replies

In Harpoon Commanders' Edition, you can have mines by treating them as small, immobile submarines with "torpedos" that have extremely short range. Would it be possible to do something like this in ANW? Scenarios involving mines would add a very interesting dimension to the game, especially since mines are cheap and it is a way for small or poor countries to give big or rich countries grief.

One could also add mines, I guess, as a kind of torpedo, with no speed but infinite "fuel." If a ship gets too close...it goes off as it had hit the ship! But you would need minelayers to release them. But that would give us an excuse to add minelayers to the database. :)

Any thoughts on this?

ANW

HUD 4 v 1.1 b7

Mines are already present in the HUD-4. At least one type, the Mk-60 CAPTOR. I'd be interested by feedbacks on it. As for your comments, in the HUD-4, I may use the IED weapon created by Darren instead of torpedos.

Looks like you are planning on adding more mines to the database. Good! I think they will really add something to the game, especially with low level conflicts.

I'll do a little research and suggest a few types of mines and minesweepers that might be included in the next version of the HUD.
