Radars in port facilates?

Featured Replies

What would be a good example of surface search radar, and air search radar while I’m asking, for a small to medium OpFor port facility . Port installations in HC seem to have them and their use in H4 would seem to be plausible.

If not in the H4/High Tide, please hint to a link where I'd be able to find some stats.

Thanks

As I understand it, port/harbour radar facilities (where they exist at all) tend to be commercial, non-military types used for basic roles like collision avoidance and weather information. There is probably no equivalent H4.1/HT data. I'd just Google it.

I think I'll just use the H4 International generic AS and SS radar in each of the redfor ports unless you think it is too much of a stretch. Thanks for looking into it Brad.

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of this page, you will see the info on the Israeli EL/M-2226 Coastal Surveillance Radar.

Here

It speaks of detecting, in Sea State 3, rubber boats at >20km and patrol craft at >60km. My handy-dandy converter says thats >10.8nm and >32.4nm respectively.

Will fudge the numbers upward a bit to take into account the ">" and go with that.

Any other suggestions...?

In Tunisia, i seen a small surface radar on the top of the coast guard of the Monastir's port, it was a Decca (was wrote on it).

Hope it helps

Sure does Jan, thank you.

In fact my neighbor has a Decca radar "dish" ontop of his boat. I've been meaning to ask him about it's performance and others he may be familiar with as he is a NYC Police Officer in the maritime unit.

Maybe one from the Bridgemaster series.

Bridgemaster series

Family of F- or I-band radars that employ advanced video processing and are designed to provide high performance at reasonable cost. A Bridgemaster variant has been adopted by the UK Royal Navy as the Type 1008 navigation radar. As of early 1996, approximately 5,500 Bridgemaster radars had been ordered by customers around the world.
