September 16, 200916 yr So warship displacement is measured in long tons? It doesn't have to be long tons....it could also be metric tonnes or short tons or regular tons. Technically, you'd need the underwater volume of the vessel, and it's hull coefficent. Length, Beam, Draft [not depth] and the coefficent. This could generate a volume [i generally use cubic meters] that would provide a tonnage dependant on the medium the vessel was in at the time....Fresh water, dock water, sea water, brackish, etc. The coefficent can be found using Simpsons Rules but that is going a little into too much detail.
