Virtual machine to run harpoon scenario editor

Hi guys,
I am a long time player of harpoon. I want to try running the scenario editor on a Oracle virtual machine. Any help with what version of VM machine would be helpful. I want to use Windows XP as the operating system. Can I use windows XP professional?
Should it be Windows XP 32 bit.
I'm not asking for help to get this running, I just want to know what hardware and software I should use.

I recommend not using a VM and instead using the 32-bit scenario editor.  Wscenedt32.exe in your game directory.  Current Files - General - HarpGamer has the latest patch. 

Unless you are running the game in a VM anyway but still, I'd suggest that VM be an up to date OS which means a 64-bit build then you run the 32-bit scenario editor directly on that.
