October 21, 200817 yr Hello, I've been playing HC97 since 1998. But as a military wonk, dismayed by numerous odd load outs and degrading of units in the battlesets. For instance differing Mig-21 units curiously missing their natural AAW load out. B-57's! My lord, by the load out they are nearly useless. No reference at all to various guns and rockets they typically used, much less the insanely low bomb load in the game. No word some actually used AS.46 missiles in their careers. But there are others too. Is their a way to edit these load outs? I have the scenario editor, but would dearly love to modify these clearly biased units. Thanks
October 21, 200817 yr A platform editor was not available until Harpoon Classic Gold was released. There is no way to edit the old HC battlesets. The only ones that can be changed are the EC2000 battlesets that were converted to EC2003 battlesets. You are simply out of luck with the older battlesets. If you are really interested in DB changes, get the latest version and change it to your heart's content.
October 21, 200817 yr There is no way to edit the old HC battlesets. You´re wrong Herman.... Rebuilding them in EC2003 is still an option....
October 21, 200817 yr There is no way to edit the old HC battlesets. You´re wrong Herman.... Rebuilding them in EC2003 is still an option.... Quite true Divefreak. But I don't believe they'd be playable in the old Harpoon '97 that the guy still has. I still have both versions installed, and the '97 version won't load any of the 2003 files. Buddha
October 21, 200817 yr There is no way to edit the old HC battlesets. You´re wrong Herman.... Rebuilding them in EC2003 is still an option.... Pretty sure that I'm not. He's asking about making DB changes. I think that you are suggesting that the old HC 97 scenarios be re-made / re-written for compatibility with EC2003. That would be something totally different from the editing of original scenarios dannytoro initially proposed (especially since EC 2003 isn't even available for his HC 97 version).
October 21, 200817 yr There is no way to edit the old HC battlesets. You´re wrong Herman.... Rebuilding them in EC2003 is still an option.... Playing the same game for 10 Years.... I think an update to the most recent version aka HCE won´t hurt.. And i bet buying HCE and rebuilding is the faster way. Cause i don´t believe his wish will ever turn into reality. No thats wrong his wish has become reality => it is called HCE
October 21, 200817 yr And i bet buying HCE and rebuilding is the faster way. The term 're-building' is a bit mis-leading. A user cannot simply take an old scenario from the original GIUK battleset and simply save it under the new EC2003 GIUK battleset. One fellow tried this and ran afoul of significant problems. The only way to have the scenarios playable with HCE is to re-make them. That means starting anew and inserting all the bases, units, ViConds, Orders,... And, from how I read the original message in this thread, I'm pretty certain that was not the intent originally proposed by dannytoro.
October 21, 200817 yr I believe the original question involved taking the platforms in the old '97 scenarios and editing them to conform with the real world, as can be done with the latest version of Harpoon using the PE. Since the old Harpoon '97 will load and play the 2000 scenarios, if he could alter the platforms and then redo the scenarios as 2000 scenarios, they might play with '97. However, since this would involve upgrading to the latest Harpoon in order to have the PE available, I don't see that there would be any point to doing this, other than perhaps to share the redone scenarios with another '97 player who chooses not to purchase the latest version. Another problem I think might arise is the use of later Harpoon scenarios from the AGSI version with the old I-Magic version, and possible copywrite violations that may occur. I'll also add that I only still have the '97 version for the sake of nostalgia (I also have the 360 Pacific and Harpoon II DOS versions). The increased capabilities of the latest release make it cheap at twice the price if you askl me. Buddha
October 21, 200817 yr Author ...Yes, I tried the later datasets and HC97 wouldn't run them. Just gibberish when you try to load the battleset. I guess I'll wait for a bug free new version. I could not locate the reliable version of the new Harpoon either....Wish there were more DB2000 though....

I could not locate the reliable version of the new Harpoon either....Wish there were more DB2000 though.... I got the game shipped to me as part of participating in the Beta testing program, so I didn't need to purchase it on-line or otherwise. The game is available for purchase here:http://www.digitalriver.com/dr/v2/ec_Main.Entry17C?SID=45905&SP=10023&CID=119338&PID=946288&PN=1&V1=946288&CUR=840&DSP=&PGRP=0&ABCODE=&CACHE_ID=119338 both as a digital download, hard copy purchase, or both. Since Matrix must be selling the product, or they would no longer carry it, I'm not sure why some users are having problems making the purchase. If someone wants the game and flat out just cannot download it, I'll gladly make an ISO of the CD available, provided arrangements can be made with Don/Matrix for purchasing the serial #. This of course is contingent on no objections by the owners. Buddha

If you are looking for H2/H3 scenarios, you can get over 300 PlayersDB scenarios. Harpoon ANW users can get the: Complete Harpoon ANW Library Harpoon3.6.3 users can get the: Complete Harpoon 3.6.3 Library The Harpoon 3.6.3 scens should run just fine with your Harpoon 2 (if that is what you are still running). If you are having problems getting eDownload version of either computer Harpoon game, you can check out NWS. They do it for a living and seem to take care of their customers fairly well. http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...ODE=03&id=6
