July 21, 200817 yr hi all i'm seeking advice on how to do a particular scenario. the scenario i want to do is replicate (to a point) the movie Firefox, with Clint Eastwood. You, a secret agent have to steal the latest Russian superplane. I'm using the GIUK map, and have put in nearly all Russian, Czech, Romanian and Polish airfields. I've also put in 2 blue airfields, one in south-east Romania, and one in Greenland. The mission will be to get the superplane from Romania to Greenland without being destroyed (roughly 2500nm). Between you and Greenland will be the entire defence force of those countries. My problem is on the selection of the aircraft. I originally thought of using the SR71 blackbird. It has the speed, range and performance that i wanted but doesn't have any self-defence weapons or a low enough radar cross section. My second choice was a F22 raptor. its got the weaponry and low radar signature, but doesn't have the range or the speed. So i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could do this ?? Mark.
July 22, 200817 yr I'd say go with the SR-71. Frankly, with one airplane against the entire air defence forces of four nations, you can't carry enough weapons to matter anyway. Evade or die ...
July 22, 200817 yr Hi Mark The trick is to make your aircraft very superior to its competitors in a relative sense- for example, use an SU-35 vs early MiG 29s, Mig 23's, 21's and such. Add an intermediate base and a tanker, and make management and defense of the tanker an additional challenge. Also the land/rearm at that base issue, will you get bounced on the ground? Set up a situation where the pilot of your plane has to make important decisions about whether to fight or run in a given situation, and set some traps to let the IA take advantage of a bad decision. The key is to be the bad guy when designing, we'll take care of the other side. Hope this helps. Sounds like fun.

I would suggest approaching him and asking if you can use a custom version of the DB that has a FireFox built to your design in it. If he gives his blessing I'd be happy to help put your FireFox together (Brad would probably do it better and faster though ). The final scenario could then be distributed as a custom battleset with just that scenario and the custom database built-in. Brad is on vacation but will be back in the swing of things here in about a week.
July 22, 200817 yr Fred Galano made an "Escape from New York"-type of scenario. He even included a description for "Snake Bliskin, Strikes Again. http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/YFiGSIl7i6B3P...2003%20MEDC.zip Maybe it can give you some ideas.
