Wide Screen pop up problewm

Featured Replies

Using an LG 22" wide screen 1680 x 1050 XP Pro AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual 4600 2.4 ghz w/2 Gb Ram My popups (Speed, Course, Launch, Staff Assisat etc) are all missing the right & bottom section. For example the speed popup doesn't hav\f the cruse, flank & OK/Cancel buttons. Maps seem OK.

I hven't run the original on this machine I only have it on my laptop. but that is also a wide screen I think 1280 x 800. Lenovo 3000 N100 The popups on that version are fine.

Are you by chance using 'large fonts' on the LG? HC really doesn't understand large fonts but I suppose we'll have to figure something out eventually as more and more people use them.

This is a corrupt registry problem that has occurred before with earlier versions of Harpoon going back to Harpoon 2002.

To fix: 1) From the Start button, select Run and type the word regedit.

2) Find the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder and expand it through Software/Matrix Games/HCE/Options.

3) Delete the Options folder.

4) Run Harpoon again, which will reset all those erased pointers with fresh ones, and all should be well.

Note: There is also a Matrix Games folder within the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. Do not tamper with this folder. Among other things, it contains the Serial Number pointer, and erasing will cause the program to crash with an invalid serial number message. You then need to uninstall/reinstall.

Thanks very much for this information! I recently tried to play and had this exact problem. It makes the game very difficult to play! lol

Thanks again for the help!

I' ve done that and it's fine now.

But now in Battleset ''Falkland'' by wmarsh time compresion doesn't work or it's very slow.

Also game becomes very unresponsive.

How to cure that?

I checke'd, other ''integral battlesets'' doesn't seem to be afected with that.

Grunf, which scenario in particular. Usually it is just busy scenarios that are slow but we'd be happy to take a look. What version of the GE are you using (it will be in the title bar, 2009.050 or some similar looking number)?

From title bar: Harpoon, Commanders edition-build 2009.050

Scenario is: ''Approach to total exclusion zone''

I checked EC 2003 Battle for Atlantic ocean, scenario ''Fingers of death'', also very slow.

Maybe it's OS thing, I have Windows 7 now, before I had Windows Vista which worked fine.

Laptop should be fast enough to run the game without problem.

Ok, EC 2003 Battle for Atlantic ocean, scenario ''Fingers of death'' working fine now.

I probably didn't install Falkland battleset the right way, so I'll try again.

I gave the Falkland's scenario you listed a quick try with the HCDA-110606 database and was able to run 5 minutes : 1 time compression on my 2-year old i7 laptop, even started some Vulcan's on their way to do a little bombing. I extracted the files to the root of my HC installation though, not a sub-directory (though either should work just fine). I was using 2009.076 but that also shouldn't make a difference.

I can run very large scenarios at full compression in my Windows XP VM that's only given *1 core* of my i7.

Something else is sucking up CPU if Harpoon runs slow on an i-series CPU.
