Is green supposed to shoot down red?

Featured Replies

Just playing a user scenario, and saw a flanker being shot down by a green pakistani ship.

I saved it, and then the 2nd plane gets shot down as well.

The game tells me I've shot down the plane.

It seems logical enough that green has shot down the red plane, but my question is this supposed to happen?

And would the green ships attack my planes? Should I sink green ships that threaten my forces? I remember one scenario which has a green ship which looks like a merchant cargo ship, but has a nuclear weapon in it's loadout.

Thanks Mack, Neutrals should not be killing AI units or reporting AI units to the player. We've got it reduced now to Neutrals only torpedoing AI units and that will soon be squashed. Look for improvement in the first patch. Thank you for the report.

Great.

Funnily enough, the green group moved into gun range and sunk about 3 ships later on in the scenario, and heavily damaged the 2 carriers.

The red fleet just stood there and took it. Made my job alot easier.

 , it certainly is comical or depressing to watch those actions depending upon the situation, I'll miss them until we get a real third side implementation.

You know, I could actually see it happening that a green fleet would shoot down anything that got in range to attack it in the middle of a warzone simply as self defence. If the planes are overflying the green fleet is it really that unrealistic? After all, does the nuetral side truly know the intentions of either the player or the AI in this case.

Though the player shouldn't even be alerted when it happens, that much I do agree on. Nor should the player be getting intel info off of green units.

I think that it is a bad idea for Neutrals to engage the AI. It's just another impediment towards an unthinking machine. The player, of course, can simply avoid it. Unfortunately, AI just keeps getting mauled. I don't like anything that further hinders the AI without any effect on the Human player.

Tony, while this is certainly tangential (is that a word?) set up a quick TacOps two-player scenario, place a couple of Red, Blue, and at least one othe color force units. Then enable umpire tools, and click Options/Rule Of Engagement... See how the different color forces can have differing "defense posture" modes assigned to it in relation to other color forces. Run a few turns and see how some forces will "ignore" each other unless fired upon, or will attack on sight.

For example Blue can be considered "Free Fire" or "Self Defense":

vs Red

vs Yellow

vs Gray

vs Green

vs Ivory

vs Orange

vs Gold

Maybe this can provide some inspiration to the actions of neutrals and/or "undefined" forces within a battlespace.
