January 7, 201313 yr Some links and some research results: Oberon and Porpoise classes and comments about sensors: http://jproc.ca/rrp/rrp2/oberon_sonar.html British Cold War SS and conversions (the Submariners Association Barrow-in-Furness branch is ever a gold mine of rare data): http://www.rnsubs.co.uk/Dits/Articles/ds48.php#Section_4d Some results, also comparing with Conway's: The T class (Super) has only 12 internal torpedo reloads (not 20) coherent with her internal room and the internal reloads of the rest of T-class subs. Her radar is Type 1000 series. Her sonars, at least to 1959, were: Sonar 168, replacement of Sonar 138, passive only. Sonar 169, replacement of Sonar 129, active/passive. Some time later, as stated in Conway's, the Super conversion was equipped with: Sonar 186, passive only, with a cluster of 48 hydrophones and similar to BQR-2. Sonar 187, active/passive. Sonar 197, intercept, derived from DUUG-1. (not only Sonar 186 and 187) The T class (Streamlined) had also 12 torpedo reloads (not 11). Her radar is Type 267PW, no Type 1002. Her sonars, at least to 1959, were: Sonar 168, replacement of Sonar 138, passive. Sonar 169, replacement of Sonar 129, active/passive. (not Sonar 186 and 187, Conway's states the Streamlined conversion keeps older sonars than the Super conversion and were employed mainly for training, perhaps 186, 187 and 197 never were installed).
