June 25, 201214 yr I thinking dropping a self-defense option and reducing overall speed capability would both be mistakes. I can accept that the conventional 21 inch heavyweight torpedo may no longer be the best choice for SSBN(X), but there should be something. Perhaps a hard kill UUV option that can be deployed from the countermeasures tubes or some smaller scale launching device.
