Import/Export issue

Featured Replies

In trying to modify the HUD3 database (yes I am messing with perfection). I seem to be importing or exporting the DB incorrectly. After exporting I get an error saying that the dbsignature.dll file is missing. I don't even see a file with that name. I import the DB from the DB folder in Harpoon 3.9.4, mess with the db in the editor and then export it back to where I got it. Is that the correct process?

Thanks, Steve

OK really having issues. Going to have to start over. I need help opening up the DB (HUD3), changing a few of the platforms and then exporting it. I thought I was doing the same thing as in HCE but I keeping getting errors so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Can you tell me what editor you are using?

Hi Dale,

For sure he uses Reimer Editor, it's the only one which needs DB import...

Have a nice day folks,

François "Gunny" Guérin

If you are using the RE then you are probably missing the signature.dll file that goes into the same folder as the editor MDB file. The other option that you have is to generate a signature file in the ingame DB editor. In the edit drop down menu you'll see a 'generate signature' command. Export using the RE and then go into the ingame editor and use that command. You should be good to go then.

Steven,

You may be running into two separate issues.

1.> On your first attempt to import the database you may find the RE won't import the database files. You will need to open the database using the Game Editor and then save the database. You don't need to modify anything, simply open, save annexes and exit.

2.> I normally place a copy of the database.dll file in each database folder, along with the copy of the RE that applies to that database.

Feel free to contact me if you have any further issues.

Cheers

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm having a few problems with this myself, out of unfamiliarity with ANW I'd guess.

I've been using the PE in Harpoon Classic since it was first introduced, and I'm attempting to do things in a similar way with ANW. I put the H3RE_3_10.MDB file in the subfolder containg the DB files. When I double-click on the MDB file, it opens in MS Access as expected. The MDB file is empty at this point, so I click on Import New Database, point to the DB subfolder, and all goes as expected for almost the whole import process. All the Annexes are read and imported OK, with the exception of the final 3; Database.xml Annex, Change Log Annex, and Platform Extras Annex.

At this point the MDB file seems to contain all the normal data, but until I resolve those 3 errors, I'm afraid to do anything with it, since exporting back could really hose things up I'd guess.

Any advice?

Thanx,

Buddha

My advice is to not be afraid, those are 'normal' errors.

Similar to the ones seen on the DOS screen during DB Editing in the Commanders Edition I take it? I've ignored those since the beginning with no ill effects.

In that case, full speed ahead.

Thanx,

Buddha
