March 24, 201115 yr Well, I can confirm your problem, but I don't know how to fix it. Nor do I know what caused it. But in any case, the icon at the center of the formation editor display is NOT an actual unit. I offer 2 solutions, neither of which will work particularly well. The problem is: Sub group AM: The actual unit, AM00, is about 280 nm NNW of the formation center. This is outside the maximum formation size of 255 nm. Sub group AO: The actual unit, AO00, is about 260 nm NNE of the formation center. This is outside the maximum formation size of 255 nm. You can find the actual units fairly easily if you set the group and unit windows to similar scales and display them side by side. Solution 1: Join the offending group to another group, thus eliminating the offending group. Then split the combined group, which ** should ** put the offending unit in the middle of a new formation. However, you can't really do this without significant effort because no other group is close enough to permit joining. Solution 2: Order the offending unit back to the formation. Select the group. Order formation. Click inside the formation circle. Execute. Of course, you want your subs to be travelling fairly slowly, say 10 kn, and it will take a full day for them to get back to where they're supposed to be. However, they still function reasonably well at their actual location, except that their actual speed is 5 kn more than the group speed.
March 24, 201115 yr Author Thanks. I'm very good at finding strange glitches by accident. I had Gary Grigsby stumped for a a while with a crash by Carrier Force on the Atari 800XL. He said it was so rare that it wasn't worth fixing.
