Requests for HUD3 and/or ANW DB

Featured Replies

Mark, as of HUD 1.5.5, none of these platforms were present.

I'd also add the Eurocopter Tiger (Germany, Australia, Spain and France).

Best regards,

FG

And here are a few more (again, if I just missed them somehow, I apologize)...

Australia

ANZAC frigate <-- I must have missed this somehow, but I cannot find it in the HUD3

Armidale class patrol boat

Huon class minehunter

Boeing 737 AEW&C

Malaysia

Kedah class offshore patrol vessel

Saudi Arabia

F-15SE

Panavia Tornado IDS <-- I'm sure I'm missing this one, too, but I can't find it in the HUD3

Panavia Tornado ADV

That's all I can think of right now. Thanks.

Mark

Hmmm....

(I apologize in advance for any mistakes, etc.)

I can't seem to find the French Mistral L9013 (a big helicopter carrier), the Spanish Juan Carlos (which I believe will carry some F35s), the Baracuda submarine (but there is a SSGN called the Surcouf, which seems to be a hypothetical platform...it's like a French SSBN refitted as a missile sub), and the planned America-class. Are they there? If not, are they planned for the HUD3?

For the Mistral, should I just use the Canberra, which I understand is a very similar design?

For aircraft, I can't find the French Dassault nEUROn, the Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk, MiG Skat, Northrop Grumman X-47A Pegasus (carrier-based UAV), the Chinese WZ-2000, or the Boeing X-45. I'd love to see these and other drones added; they are becoming a bigger and bigger part of modern combat, especially the low intensity conflicts that Harpoon 3 can model so well.

And, as long as I'm making requests, here are a few more for the HUD3 (again, I apologize if they are already here and I missed them somehow)...

* Project 21956 class frigate/destroyer (Russia)

* Admiral Grigorovich class frigate (Russia)

* Admiral Sergey Gorshkov class frigate (Russia)--20 to 30 are planned

* Yasen class submarine (Russia)

* Type 071 (Yuzhao class); amphibious warfare ships of the People's Republic of China's People's Liberation Army Navy

* Type 054A frigate (China), which features a 32-cell VLS HQ-16 medium-range SAM system (there is also a 54B and a 54C, but I don't know how many of these will be built, what the main advances are, etc.)

* FREMM multipurpose frigate (France and Italy)

* F125 class frigate (Germany)

* India's Arihant class of nuclear-powered submarines (not sure if I mentioned this one before)

* Kolkata class destroyer (India)

* USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78)

* Milgem class corvette (Turkey)

* USS Independence (LCS-2)

* Akizuki class destroyer (2010) (Japan)

* Canadian Single Class Surface Combatant

(Stats for all of these are on Wikipedia, so I figure it won't be too hard to add at least preliminary versions to a database.)

Please let all of these be in...I guess it would be HUD 3 v. 1.6. :)

For the Mistral, should I just use the Canberra, which I understand is a very similar design?

Mark,

Camberra class is closer to the Spanish Juan Carlos I class (it's a spin off or something like that) than from Mistral class, which is only helo-capable platform. Mistral is on the "to do" list for next version of the HUD.

Best regards,

FG

* Type 054A frigate (China), which features a 32-cell VLS HQ-16 medium-range SAM system (there is also a 54B and a 54C, but I don't know how many of these will be built, what the main advances are, etc.)

A well known reference site for Chinese stuff:

http://www.sinodefence.com/

(Off topic: someone will be this week in Madrid at http://iugm.es/actividades/congresos-y-jor...s-de-seguridad/ ?)

A couple of more suggestions (if I just missed them somehow, I apologize, but I could not find them in the HUD3)...

Japan

Hyūga class helicopter destroyer

South Korea

Dokdo class amphibious assault ship

Sejong the Great class (DDG: Destroyer Guided-missile; 2 in service)

Chungmugong Yi Sunshin class (DDH: Destroyer Helicopter; 6 in service)

Thanks.

Mark

Hyuga has been added.

Mark, I've found some of your wishes:

Australia

ANZAC frigate <-- listed as F 150 HMAS Anzac

Panavia Tornado IDS <-- listed as Tornado F2/F3

Panavia Tornado ADV <-- listed as Tornado GR1/GR4 or IDS

Best regards,

FG

Thanks Gunny,

Quick clarification:

Australia:

ANZAC Class

Ship #439 - F 150 HMAS Anzac [Meko 200] 1996 -> 2006

Ship #539 - F 150 HMAS Anzac [Meko 200 WIP] 2004+ (WIP - War-fighting Improvement Program)

Saudi Arabia

Tornado F.2A = ADV (Air Defence Variant) 1989+

Tornado GR.1A = IDS (Interdiction Strike) 1986+

Mark:

All units are found in the relevant country file. If something doesn't show up, chances are the scenario date lays outside of the unit's in service date(s).

Cheers

Darren

Mark,

I've removed the quotes and made notes where applicable below.

Australia

ANZAC frigate <-- I must have missed this somehow, but I cannot find it in the HUD3

- Already explained above.

Armidale class patrol boat

- Ship #564 ACPB 83 HMAS Armidale. In service from 2006. That's over 200 vessels before the last entry I've made.

Huon class minehunter

- Not a priority, we don't model mine warfare, what's the point?

Boeing 737 AEW&C

- Aircraft #340 E-737-700 Wedgetail. In service from 2006. It dates from almost 300 aircraft from the current latest entry.

Cheers

Darren,

I notice a typo mistake. This new Russian sub is "Severodvinsk", from the city near the White Sea in the Arkhangelskaya oblast.

Best regards,

François "Gunny" Guérin

Mark,

Here's an update, My comments in Blue.

[discussion of updates to the HUD3 deleted to save space]

I apologize if this is a really stupid question, but is this updated version of the HUD3 available yet? If so, where is it?

Thanks.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers...

So here's my contribution. No, there isn't an updated version of the HUD3 available. I made this notation, "- Now Added to HUD3" so you knew what I've added from your list and the other notations were designed to help you find the platforms you were looking for.

I have a project that should have taken total precedence over anything like adding extra platforms to the HUD3, since the next release/update for ANW was/is relying on that work. I'll try to get everything done ASAP.
