I downloaded the FAQ, but I cannot get the very large (lol) 3.5 mb zip file to download or even open a tab. H2update.zip(Admirals Edition Update) FAQ
Here are the directions from Tom Wenck on how to correctly update Harpoon II.
If you follow the directions 360 gives the update will not work correctly
and may cause your game to crash. Follow the directions below and you will
get a correct update when you are finished.
Here is the info on using H2UPDATE.ZIP:
As promised, here is a summary of the various contortions you must
endure to receive all updates that can be squeezed from the H2UPDATE.
Note that the game must be installed to the hard drive to run the patch.
1. Throw out the instructions in both H2UPDATE.TXT and README.TXT.
They are wrong, incomplete, and harmfull.
2. Unzip H2UPDATE.ZIP into your Harpoon2 directory using the pkunzip -d
parameter: pkunzip -d h2update.zip (In Winzip check the "Use Folder
Names" box)
3. At the DOS prompt, from the Harpoon2 directory, type:
update dbupdate\
After a whole lot of patching and a whole lot of reports that are
confusing and conflicting, you have received updated versions of:
harpoon2.exe
the database in the DBUPDATE directory
GC1 Battleset
GC2 Battleset
GC3 Battleset
4. To update the Scenario Editor type:
patch seupdate
5. To update the Cold War Battleset type:
patch scencwar
6. To update the WestPac Battleset type:
patch -ignoremissing annexwp
patch scenwpac
7. Delete the patch files:
.rtd
.rtp
update.exe
dbupdate.exe
readme.txt
patch.exe
h2update.bat
Notes:
The DATABASE directory contains a patched database with no new platforms
The DBUPDATE directory contains a patched database with many new
platforms
The WestPac scenario Yellow Sea fails to update
The GC3 scenario Nordic.scn fails to update
If you want to use the Common Database compiled by the users of this group,
unzip it at this point and copy the resulting files into the database
subdirectory of harpoon2.
