thanks for all your help guys, - strangeness yes indeed, - i think i get tripped up here on the labels of things - all the codenames and package labels, when you say "newer battleset scenarios" what ones are talking about? are just meaning all the scenarios that come with the matrix ultimate commander edition still? the porter scenario is just what i was after, an air war over the black sea region. i know there are probably many CMANO scenarios out there already for this, but Harpoon in all its iterations has such a charm to it i enjoy

thanks! i have used thevideo now figure out how to play the porter scenario. There are some other peculiarities with whatever it is that happened to my huce folder after teh patching, but for now, i have that scenario playing and that is the main thing for me and - if i want to play the original scenarios i just need to swap the commondb files over with the original ones again yes?

well its ppssible, though i just checked my avast virus chest and they arent there, but i will ad also when i was installign the patches they were throwing up some of these exception errors - you know the types, ones with 0x003530d looking numbers (that wasnt one of them, i just was illustrating what i am referring) nevertheless, now i have all that done, how do i player the porter scenario, i may as well push on and see if i can play it now yes?

okay i applied the patches again and i can report that as soon as i did the 2018 beta patch, the winharp32.exe and wscenedt32.exe files disappeared from the folder - very disconcerting, as i am left wondering what else might have disappeared. A very odd patch that would delete critical game files it seems to be. i added in the db file now too, - very odd that there was no file to overwrite this time , - in the db file there is a commondb.res file, in my huce folder there was only a commondb.rsr file - also put ht eporter files in the HUCE folder, but how do i actually play the scenario? the files for the porter scenario are not in a format the game recognises, everything here is just really odd, and i am having to wonder am i even working with the same version of HUCE as you all here? mine is hte matrix store box i bought from matrix, everything here is just off and screwy, - but if you can clear up my confusion that would be great, otherwise i think i will just give up all this trouble and stick with HUCE as it was prior to my visiting this forum

okay thanks - though i looked in my backups folder and none of the files like you show here were in mine - all very strange. so i guess i would just like to know from what folder should i run the beta updates and db update?

okay i have reinstalled and repatched everything and made a copy of the HUCE folder, but still i am think if you can just tell me exactly what files i need to have backups of exact;y if i want to switch back to playing the original scenario files - so as i understand it, there are teh 2 beta-patches i install and then the database update - do those beta patches make the original scenarios unplayable or is it just the database update that does it?

umm there is no file called releasenote.txt in my HUCE folder - i am just going to reinstall it all and make a copy and start again

oh this is just getting too confusing sorry, i cant follow this adn the instructions here and in the link aargh sorry this file swapping and the numbers between the patches and dbs - the exe has disappeared from the game folder itself, so if i select to start it from teh start menu, i get a message telling me itsmissing

i did the three downloads like you advised but now the winharp32.exe file in my HUCE folder has disappeared and so i cant play the game - how and why has this happened?

regarding the overwriting of the database, it says the legacy scenarios wont work anymore - all of them? so only new scenarios will work? oh i am not sure i want to make all the others unplayable

thanks very much for this explanation, as i really didnt know where to start with getting what files - all these files with long strings of digits, and all the time i wasnt clear with what the matrix game already covers

thanks for your reply, do you mean Harpoon CE in the menu? - i am familiar with this but how though o i play the dcenarios created and uploaded here in this forum for it? where do i put the files do i need some other program to add them in the files have strange endings like .Blq, .RDq, .scq, and .Blo, .RDo snf .sco i am interestd in both the 2017-11 asw pacific and porter 2017 scenarios

hi! i have been looking for an interesting Harpoon scenario set in the black sea region between Russia and Nato and the Porter scenario in the Harpoon Classic section caught my eye. I am though not sure what i need to do to play it. I have the Matrix edition Harpoon Ultimate edition that has HUCE, ANW, 3.6.3 AND 394 and i think i have it all updated to the most recent versions as per the patches on the matrix site. i am assuming i need to use HUCE for the Porter scenario but where do i put the files for it thank you regards
