Besides standard Russian heavy torpedoes, I would think the Nerpa was probably upgraded to carry the sub-launched version of the Switchblade (SS-N-25 "Club-S) missile. It's probably also capable of minelaying as well. FWFS, Greg

NNSotD (Naval News Summary of the Day)
Brad, Really goof stuff! Your right that the unions will likely have a hissy-fit. We all know that American shipyards and steel ndustry are "infant industries" (even though they've been in existence for over a 100-years - that's some pretty old babies, by the way). I think they need to grow-up and finally learn the cold, hard truth about life in this great big world we live in - Life is not far. In business you have to compete, to succeed.

NNSotD (Naval News Summary of the Day)
Been hearing some rumblings about the possibilities of the US going in with Canada on a Deifenbaker class. All of the US's breakers are antiquated. If Canada is planning to build a new hull in Vancouver under NSPS, this might be a way for two birds to be killed with one stone - Canada gets an influx of cash and extends the class (a victor for the economies of scale) and SeaSpan Shipyards can create more jobs for the BC region. Sounds like a win-win to me.
