The 270th NEW Harpoon scenario of the year! EU2-Malta Falcons Despite the protests of the UN and their NATO allies, the United States chose to unilaterally conduct air strikes in Iran to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities. Some of those air strikes vaporized large quantities of radioactive material into the atmosphere and groundwater. The result may be an ecological and civil disaster many orders of magnitude worse then Chernobyl. The European countries of France, Spain, and Italy have protested to the UN that the United States can no longer enact its will on the rest of the world and must be punished for its actions. They requested sanctions …

Any old timers here who recall the number and types of AC carried aboard the Oriskany in the late '60s/early '70s? I found this :http://www.history.navy.mil/branches/ordbat.htm, which gives the squadrons, dets, and AC types, but I'm stuck for numbers of each type carried aboard. I spent time alongside Oriskany numerous times in those days, but never actually served aboard her. Thanx, Buddha

File Name: Coconut Crisis 1980 File Submitter: Mgellis File Submitted: 17 Feb 2012 File Updated: 27 Jul 2012 File Category: Scenarios DB Used: HUD 4 v 1.1 b8 Authors: Mark Gellis Battleset: No Information In 1980, there was a quasi-rebellion in the New Hebrides. Historically, there was little loss of life. But what if the organization behind the rebellion was more violent, and Great Britain decided to eliminate the threat, but France refused to allow Great Britain to use force in an area where they were co-administrators? So, the British task force must conduct the raid but it is possible that France will attack them before they even reach the New Hebrides..…

I played from the side of the Lone Wolf first. I made it to the mouth of Polyarnyy and patrolled there for a few hours without detecting any enemy activity. I expanded my patrol zones until I detected a long-range sonar contact. I followed it up to learn that it was a Mirka patrol vessel. I then came across an entire ASW task force. Unfortunately, they were heading in the opposite direction. Humbug. All I could do was hope that they would eventually turn back towards me as it is nearly impossible to conduct a stern chase in a diesel submarine. As luck would have it, they did slow down and turn back towards me. I crept at deep depth with periodic periscope s…

The 54th NEW Harpoon scenario in the last 12 months! Shadow the Boomer After several vicious carrier battles in the Barents Sea and with the ground war stalemated in the Nordic winter, negotiations started to end the war. Both parties observed a cease-fire, which held surprisingly well in the first week. However, NATO feared Putin would make use of the cease-fire to bring his boomers to bastions prepared in the Barentz Sea. USN and Royal Navy hunter-killer subs were sent to stake out Severomorsk and be prepared to shadow SSBNs exiting the harbour. Author: Freek Schepers Nordkapp Prior to war breaking out, a small Dutch Task force of…

File Name: Okinawa - modified version File Submitter: RKoelbach File Submitted: 1 Aug 2010 File Category: Scenarios DB Used: Harpoon 3 ANW Standard Database Authors: Modified version of a stock scen Battleset: Global Conflicts 1 Hi Pooners, long time ago I started to modify some Harpoon 2 stock scenarios in order to make them more challenging. Right now, waiting for 3.10, I thought it may be nice to convert some of them to Harpoon 3 ANW V 3.9.4 while still using the Standard Database everybody has. The first scen is a modification of "Okinawa", battleset Global Conflicts 1". It should be much more thrilling than the original - enjoy! Regards,…

I'll wait until we finish the scen to post my AAR...I regret not being a bit mroe conservative with my helo's at the onset and I'm poorly positioned now to defend my charges, but the situation is far from decided. And there was nothing little about the seas on my 'cruise'! Brandon Brandon came ashore from his little cruise in the Gulf and immediately came onto HarpGamer to look for a game of ANW. Can you believe this guy? He didn't even call his girlfriend before setting up a game with us. Now, THERE is a guy who has his priorities straight! [] We selected Matrix Siege made with the favourite database of Harpoon3:ANW, the PlayersDB. This sce…

Here's Herman's half of the AAR...it pretty much sums it up, though from my perspective once I zeroed in on the sub I was forced to treat it like a cornered bulldog...let it expend its energy (torpedoes) before we got in too close with the ELMA's. A few too many beers and a bloody mary (BAAAAD Composite Warfare Commander!) led to some poor attention to detail that allowed a couple of my ships to be lost needlessly. That and the nine passes I made over the Kilo trying to drop ELMA's that wouldn't fire! But once the FSG's screamed in with the SET-65's his goose was cooked. Thanks to Herman for the great game and the scenario and Tony for the server. Brandon B…

Just a thought... In any scenario, you could divide a particular nation into more than one side; the difference being how different parts responded to other sides. For example, you could have two French ships as "France Task Force 1" and a third ship as "France Task Force 2." France Task Force 1 is set to respond to to a potentially hostile side as Neutral, but the second task force (the one ship) has a loose cannon for a captain...he's set on Hostile, to model him panicking and shooting first even though it is against orders. He gets played by the AI. Since the two French task forces are Friendly to each other, I imagine one shooting at a supposedly neutral …

The 272nd NEW Harpoon scenario of the year! EU4-Azore Spot The Europeans were stung by the loss of Lajes field in the Azores. They had not expected the US to take such an aggressive action, especially without the support of a Carrier Battle Group. Now, the US is trying to get the location fortified before the Europeans can counter, and the Europeans want to re-take (or at least neutralize) the location before the US carriers get out of Norfolk. Author: Eric Weincam This scenario has been tested for Harpoon ANW. With over 60,000 PlayersDB scenarios downloaded in the last 20 weeks alone, the PlayersDB has proven itself the unequivocal p…

I'm looking to beef up a scenerio involving Iran and the US. If the US had struck targets within Iran in order to uphold UE/UN sanctions and without an offensive attack by Iran (against Israel or the US) how would countries within the Arab League of Nations look at the attack on a brother country? I'm curious if heavily Arabic/Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and Bahrain would shun the attack, remain neutral or offer support? How about Turkey which is not within the Arab League but its majority religion is Muslim and has a significant US Air Force base within its borders (as Bahrain and the HQ of COMFIFTHFLT). Since I am not the expert on US/Arab relations…

The 283rd NEW Harpoon scenario of the year! Nicobar Vengeance Friction has been growing between Indonesia and her neighbours. Amongst other issues, Indonesia claims that other nations have been illegally fishing in her waters while other nations accuse Indonesia of not doing enough to reduce piracy. Four days ago, an Indonesian submarine in the waters between the Nicobar islands and Sumatra sank an Indian merchant vessel that it mistook for a commercial fishing boat. Sixteen Indian sailors were killed in the incident. Author: Herman Hum With over 93,000 PlayersDB scenarios downloaded in the last 31 weeks alone, the PlayersDB has proven…

The 271st NEW Harpoon scenario of the year! EU3-Azore Loser The Azores are a small group of islands (under Portuguese control) that are strategically located due West of the Gibraltar Strait. On one of those islands is a long standing NATO airfield (Lajes field) and port facility that has been mostly managed by the United States since the beginning of the Cold War. Both the US and the EU are aware that any attempt to regain control of the Med requires the first step of having control of the Azores. Author: Eric Weincam This scenario has been tested for Harpoon ANW. With over 57,000 PlayersDB scenarios downloaded in the last 19 wee…
