April 26, 201016 yr Ok, I dont know if you guys will like this or hate this, but i'd like to make a scenario with ideas from the forum!!! Both expertise and creativity are needed! So overall we need: Unitset ????? Location Atlantic Iceland Mid east Westpac ????? Backstory ????? Blueforces ????? Redforces ????? Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations ????? Any ideas? realistic or crazy, all are welcome Any ideas for the location?, I suggest maybe Yemen? Iran?
April 26, 201016 yr My outlandish suggestion. Unitset Not sure what you mean here. Location Mideast (definitely needs more scenarios to fill it out) Backstory Iran invites Israel to a knock down, drag out grudge match in the Persian Gulf to settle the score once and for all. Israel sends a naval armada to teach Iran a lesson. Blueforces Israel Redforces Iran Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations Israeli naval armada must transit down through the Red Sea, through the IO, through the Strait of Hormuz, and up through the Persian Gulf to kick butt at Bushehr.
April 26, 201016 yr Author Like the idea, by unit set i mean the battleset? defines the units in the game? Israel vs iran could be interesting. Stage one: Maybe iran develops nuclear weapons, postures against israel, israel send in a deep strike at the reactor site (found by mossad) and try and knock it out. Its not unprecedented though it would be probably possible if USA allowed them through iraqi airspace (and they had refueling planes ready in iraqi airspace). Reactor would probably be well defended/watched due to previous attacks on nuclear site (Iraq) Stage two would probably involve iraq though i dont know how yet.
April 27, 201016 yr Unitset Modern Location Westpac/Australia Backstory As part of a wider conflict, Chinese and Indonesia forces attempt to invade Northern Australia. The Australian Military stands alone, with the US forces engaged in China, Korea and Taiwan. Blueforces Future Canberra LHD ships, Air Warfare Destroyers, F-35's and Super Hornets, Wedgetail AEW, Submarines. Redforces Chinese Carriers, transports, Indonesian Air force units. Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations Chinese/Indonesian's invade Darwin, Australian forces to destroy them.
April 27, 201016 yr Unitset HCDB Location Westpac Backstory South Korea decides to pay back North Korea for the sinking of Chaeson, but needs to do it covertly so the Chinese are not offended and plausible deniability remains Blueforces South Korea's submarine forces - no planes, no surface forces. Sohn Wonyil class (SS: Submarine; three in service) Chang Bogo class (SS; nine in service) Redforces North Korean Navy Diesel coastal midget submarine Sang-O class: 32 Diesel powered submarine Ming class (Type-031): 22 Diesel-electric submarine Whiskey class: 4 - no way they remain operational but... Frigates & Corvettes Light frigate Najin class: 2 Corvette Sariwon class: 4 Corvette Tral class: 2 Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations Sink all NK SSKs without loosing any of your own
April 27, 201016 yr Another outlandish suggestion. Unitset EC2003 GIUK/Atlantic and HCDB Location North Atlantic Backstory Something related to the disappearance (and then re-appearance) of the MV Arctic Sea last summer. Blueforces A multinational force trying to find the Arctic Sea. Redforces The "hijackers" and whatever national entity was behind its disappearance, presumably. Mission objectives/ai waypoints considerations Find and stop the Arctic Sea!
April 28, 201016 yr Author Am liking the ideas! especially the small ones like the Hijacking and Korean submarines will have a play around with the editor and seewhats what
April 28, 201016 yr Anyone have example of a British carrier group composition? The newest example would likely be the Auriga deployment detailed here.
April 28, 201016 yr Author last 2 years roughly Also ive come up to a prob with the briefing editor, it says incorrect text usage or something. hmm. This is the text. MV Arctic Sea is a merchant vessel cargo ship, formerly of Malta that was reported as missing between late July and mid August 2009 en route from Finland to Algeria. On July 24, the Arctic Sea, manned by a Russian crew and carrying a cargo of what was declared to consist solely of timber, has allegedly been boarded by hijackers off the coast of Sweden. The incident was not immediately reported, and contact with the ship was apparently lost on, July 30. This is the view of the common onlooker, the truth is different. The CIA and MI6 have been tracking a large shipment of enriched uranium scheduled to leave Russia for Algeria. Recent overtures between the nations have apparently ended in a favorable trade of nuclear materials for Algerian support of policies directed at the middle east. The transport ship has been code named Aurora, and a USN submarine has been sent en route to intercept the Aurora off the coast of Sweden. However there is a problem, intercepted communications have indicated the Merchant has stopped and was sighted via British air surveillance loading materials assumed to be nuclear from a Typhoon class Russian submarine. On the good side, a Broadside class FFG is also en route to intercept the ship. The Lynx helicopters will be the most valuable asset to prevent any damage to US and British assets. Blue orders 1. Intercept merchant vessel code named 'Aurora'. 2. Prevent damage to own forces, engage Russian submarine if it proves to be hostile. 1. Destroy as many blue forces as possible to allow Arctic Sea to continue as planned.
April 29, 201016 yr Also ive come up to a prob with the briefing editor, it says incorrect text usage or something. hmm. The Orders Writer can be finicky about any characters that are not alpha numeric. Try removing the quotes around Aurora here, and see if that helps. 1. Intercept merchant vessel code named 'Aurora'.
April 29, 201016 yr oh yeah i missed that one Bah its sommit else. PM sent. Btw, did you see my post above re the Auriga deployment?
May 2, 201016 yr Author Oh yeah thanks for that, its great I really should have known to check the MOD tho. Seeing as i am British :/
May 6, 201016 yr Here's an idea for you. China has finally had it with Taiwan and has decided to settle the matter once and for all. Battleset: WestPac Unitset: Official DB Blue Forces: Taiwan, B-52s out of Diego Garcia, Carrier stationed at Japan Red: China Objectives: Blue: Taiwan forces survive for 72 hours (US reinforcements arrive) Red: Eliminate 75% of Taiwanese forces and have the amphibious group on station for 12 hours. Remember, if you make a scenario to be played for both sides, you will have to balance it. If you make it red or blue only then you can make the AI a lot stronger than the player.
