April 2, 200620 yr Is the "accuracy bonus" discussed in 6.3.4.2.4 that a weapon, such as JDAM, is resolved on the Dive Bomb Table (Low or Medium depending upon the altitude it is launched)? Per DaveS (msg #3689) on the Admiralty Trilogy Yahoo Group: "If a GPS guided weapon is used against a nonmoving target it gets the bonus and you would use the Low or Medium altitude dive bombing tables as appropriate. If the target is moving and the weapon does not have terminal guidance, treat it as a dumb bomb (if it does have terminal guidance, treat it as a PGM)." Short answer: yes, the GPS accuracy bonus is resolving it on the respective dive bomb tables.
April 3, 200620 yr Author In the April 2003 issue of The Naval Sitrep If directed versus land targets: In further reading about H4.1 attacks on land targets by naval and air platforms, I came across the short article titled "Land Attack Missiles in Harpoon" and its accompanying Land Target Attack Table (Page 24). Increases the GPS guided munitions to a much more appropriate pH (IMHO).
April 3, 200620 yr The H4.1 rule as originally stated was made at a time when GPS guided munitions (i.e. JDAM) were still in their infancy. JDAM has turned out to be even more accurate than was expected, and the SITREP from 2003 certainly addresses this. In fact, I think the rule will have to be further adjusted (again, upward) as a result of experiences with using JDAM in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the eventual addition of a moving target capability.
April 3, 200620 yr Author It's huge. I would have thought that it would have been addressed in the latest errata, which is dated later than the issue of the SITREP. Either way, I know it know. Good Gaming.
