September 25, 20232 yr Good Day fellow harpooners. If this is not the appropriate sub forum, feel free to move this post to a more appropriate one. Long ago and many laptops past I spent many hours having a ton of fun playing Harpoon. Current laptop did not have it installed so I just purchased the latest HUCE from Matrix games and upgraded it to build 2022.27. Have some questions on the availability of a platform editor (not included with my recent purchase of HUCE) I see references to the Reimer PE, but cannot find a current link. Is there still a copy online? Is this the only platform editor? Is there a currently valid link to it? Note I am mainly using HUCE and WestPAC battleset. Running windows 10 64 bit. WSscenedit32 runs fine but I would like to play around with editing the platform DB as well. It appears I need ms access to run it, which I do not currently have. Which version of ms access is required and would I be able to run a version of ms access runtime to run it? If so which version of ms access runtime? Any help you can provide with obtaining a PE and running it with ms access (?) would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Long live Harpoon! -Paul
September 25, 20232 yr Welcome Paul, The platform editor (PE) for Harpoon Classic (HCE, HUCE, ...) is included in the installer for the game. The filename is pfBuild2005.mdb and yes, it requires either Microsoft Access or the Microsoft Access Runtime. You can use the Microsoft Access 365 runtime Download and install Microsoft 365 Access Runtime - Microsoft Support or many of the prior versions like 2016 Download Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime from Official Microsoft Download Center . I made sure that the current PE works under both 32 and 64-bit installations of Microsoft Access. The 32-bit version is still the most common but your choice. Let us know how you fare.
