The 4th scenario in my upcoming battleset, this shows the approach of the British Task Force to the Falklands, including the sinking of the General Belgrano and the Sheffield. It works with HCDA and the South Atlantic battleset available on this site. Black Buck Raid is possible, orders are written, and both RN and Arg air contingents have been updated with better information.

Okay, I took this scenario for a spin as the UK. The first thing I noticed was my surface groups and subs had nice paths but did not start the scenario moving. If that was intentional, no biggie, otherwise make sure the initial point in the course editor has a speed set.

Next my submarines crushed the roving forced of the Argentines without loss. I don't know how you can even up the ASW battle but if there is some way, it might be advisable. On the flip side, the scen might play pretty well from the Red side.

I expected my Sea Harriers to have the AEW advantage but ended up struggling to even reach parity in the air battle so something went right there in your design. I was able to tank to get the Nimrod close enough to get shot down.

Will look forward to future improvements on this scenario and seeing the orders B) .

Thanks wmarsh, a good start!

This was written about the April 13th, 2008 variant of the scenario.

I have always set AI forces moving at 1 sec. Then player forces don't move until you order them.

Well thats part of the real history -- modern nuclear sub vs. WW2 cruiser and 2 escorts with 2nd rate helos.

Rather one sided and one of the reasons the Arg navy went to port after Gen Belgrano sank. (The other being the engine problem on 25 de Mayo)

I played the test as blue, totally ignoring the subs, trying to get Black Buck to work. Eventually the Arg escort found Conqueror but even without any action, they could damage her but not sink her.

I expected my Sea Harriers to have the AEW advantage but ended up struggling to even reach parity in the air battle so something went right there in your design. I was able to tank to get the Nimrod close enough to get shot down.

TF South went into action with basically no AEW. Postwar, the UK deployed those AEW Sea Kings to correct this problem.

Arg took advantage of this by using Learjet Decoys to draw off UK CAP before Super E. Exocet attacks. The same technique works against the AI.

The main advantage the UK had in the air war was the longer range of its newer Sidewinders. This makes air to air combat rather onesided so long as the Harriers are defending the fleet, which again was historical.

Thank you for the input. I hope you enjoy the rest of the scenarios.

They probably won't be as good games as some of the hypothetical scenarios, but hopefully they will be of historical interest.
