January 21, 20179 yr Palang fires her guns at the incoming missile but misses. The missile cruises by the ship, but barely. The missile does not appear to be coming back toward you. Joshan fires her guns at the incoming missile but misses. The missile impacts the ship with a massive explosion. The ship's forward speed has stopped and will sink below the waves at 1628. Gorz fires her guns at the incoming missile but misses. The missile impacts the ship with a massive explosion. The ship's forward speed has stopped and will sink below the waves at 1634. Because the F-4 is less than 60% loaded, I will accelerate it using afterburners. The helo continues toward S008 with radar on. turn_1607_25_red.txt turn_1607_25_red_intl.txt
January 21, 20179 yr Orders: F4s can accelerate as they like at the moment, but when they get to 20nm of S08 they need to decelerate to 650kts (at a rate of 20% of their FMP max speed per ET air mvt phase according to 3.3.2.1) as fast as possible. Note: I'm pretty sure they can't travel as fast as you currently have them going in the Low altitude band so you may want to adjust that.
January 21, 20179 yr Author Ok. FMP for the Iranian F-4 is listed as 660kts (per Sitrep #48). Since I screwed up the F-4 position, I was going to throw you a bone by letting them go AB and catch up to the Harpoons. I can put them back at FMP if you like.

January 22, 20179 yr Even using reheat I thought an F4E couldn't do 826kts at Low altitude. I don't have sitrep 48 so maybe they adjusted the speed ratings for the F4E in it. But I thought 790kts was top speed in Low band. I'm happy to go at that speed right now. But otherwise the orders above stand with the one change that I'd like you to turn the F4s onto course 180 degrees. I've worked out that my ideal attack angle for the Sov is going to be the 30 degrees either side of his stern. So somehow I'm going to have to fly the F4s in a way to get there by the time I come in range of his AA. It will be interesting to see how he turns to meet the Harpoons.
January 22, 20179 yr Author I have to admit I am a little skeptical of the F-4E numbers from Sitrep #48. It lists the speeds at Low as 330/660/826. The German F-4F from the High Tide Annex is listed as 500/650/790. I can use the F-4F numbers instead if they seem more realistic to you.
January 22, 20179 yr Those work now - thanks. Orders No change in current orders. Remark The missile boats are gone, but was to be expected; they did their job and got their missiles off. The good news is my destroyer is still afloat; the bad news is that the Sovvie still has five missiles left. Just one gets through and I'll have a lot of problems; two and I'm fish food. If we don't sink the Sovvie, we're going to need a new plan; hopefully you will have some F-4s still in play.
January 22, 20179 yr I begin to think maybe we did this all wrong. Maybe I should have loaded the F4s up with AAMs and had them do picket duty above the Palang aiming to shoot down incoming Sunburns until he ran out. Then we close and finish off the convoy.
